Edit: It doesn't make sense anymore because it's been replied to now but, threads with a decent amount of thought put into them that don't get pissed on. Yea, those suck.

Considering it seems only a handful of people on this board listen to hip hop on a regular basis it's not surprising that a thread in that forum could go unnoticed.

My biggest pet peeve is the standard 'rap isn't real music' statement that comes through every few weeks.

yeah but you have to understand why their saying that.

I think the vast majority of people are agreeing rap is music. I think a small minority are openly saying rap doens't count because of some cursory understanding of western musical theory.

You know they don't actually hear rap and think its a chair or cooking instructions, what they hear is ever social/cultural auxillery associated and they react.

probably when anyone makes a thread in the hardcore/emo forum and the only respones we usually get are "oh yeah they rock" or "yeah i'm not too into them", and that's it.

I'm a noob and I would say I have diverse tastes. Although joining this forum has definately helped expand my tastes.

Many people at my school are really bad with that. More then half the people I have come across believe that rap isn't music. What really bothers me is people generalizing the whole genre with the whole "its only about sex, drugs, and gangsters" because the only rap/hip-hop they have most likely seen is the ****ty MTV stuff.

How most our so called residential wordsmiths fail miserably to capitalise and/or spell correctly their own songwriting thread titles. :confused:

i was going to post a sarcastic rebuttal with english slang, but while i was using an english slang glossary i noticed there are 23 different phrases/words with "arse" in them and i figured it would be insult enough to point out how articulate these people really are

Opting for boring is always suprising to me.

It pisses me off when people are too lazy to finish their lists/threads... Don't start them if you ain't close to finishing or at least finished a fair proportion... Its annoying to read a good 4-5 posts about 100 underrated voices or a solid top 100 list through the first 12 albums, and then to never see the thread again for months.
