I'm just not a fan of his incoherence/Kerouac rip off style. Also if he was truly one of the coolest mother****ers of all time he would have killed himself in a cool way.

Rip off? The man started his own style of writing, which is followed and constantly replicated by many other journalists and writers.

Well there goes any chance of Waits being on the list, he was practically a student of Kerouac.

So Kerouac is also incoherent? Because if he's not, then its clearly not a rip-off. So which is it?

No but his personality is certainly abrasive to some. I like him more for his musical accomplishments and convictions. He's still a funny dude but it's always a struggle to understand whether he's being serious or not.

His scene with Iggy Pop in Coffee & Cigarettes is pretty epic.

The beauty of quitting is now that I've quit, I can have one, 'cause I've quit.

Not quite as epic as Billy Murray with RZA and GZA though. Not much is.

TheBig3 03-01-2009 09:54 AM

well, it should go without saying that regardless of your position on what cool is, this guy should be in the top 50.
