'Cool' is an ambiguous term for me but not for Hicks, I'd rather he top these kind of lists than other lesser social commentators. I also personally found him hilarious (the first umpteenth viewings anyway), 'tis the comedy of recognition. And no i'm not counting George Carlin, whose bitter diatribes have always been just that to me. And no I'm not a stoner

I hate to gush about Chapelle because he's universally great, but the first time I stumbled upon "Black White Supremisict" on television...not knowing what I was watching it was impossible not to laugh, but I couldn't tell if I should. Thankfully, I was alone and didn't have to hide my potentially insensitive laughter.

And if you've ever seen the interview where he's talking to James Lipton, I think he's cool in both regards.

Yea, you can probably only find his work on the internet, library's might not have it. Ill look around and try to find some. Personally I have only read the most recent Dali Lamas works.

He was a little of both. Followed many of the old traditions and ways but history recorded him as setting many new ideas into action.

to me Buddhism shows that the line between religion and philosophy is arbitrary and shaky, so i don't feel comfortable calling it "more philosophy" or "more religion"
