No. We call ham "ham". :p:

jackhammer 02-26-2009 04:17 PM

So WTF is Ham and Eggs? Literally ham and eggs? Unsure.

swim 02-26-2009 04:20 PM

I think it's those damn canucks who call ham bacon, no?

Anyone else find it hilarious that they make this in light?

Kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it really? With all the crap that's probably in it you may as well just have real bacon! There is no substitute for bacon anyhow. God bless pigs.

swim 02-26-2009 04:25 PM

You could put some baconnaise on some bacon.

jackhammer 02-26-2009 04:31 PM

Englishmen only have brown sauce on their bacon unless they are from a middle class background then it's tomato ketchup (the fools).

We are both called Lee. We have similar tastes in music. We both hate eggs and our birthdays are very close together I think? Spooky!

bacon is the belly cut of swine sliced into strips, and has a much higher content of saturated fat. ham is a large cut of the swine as janszoon posted.

TheBig3 02-26-2009 07:16 PM

eggs and ham are in fact eggs and ham.

No that streaky bacon.

Middle or Back bacon isn't cut from the belly

The USDA defines bacon as "the cured belly of a swine carcass"; other cuts and characteristics must be separately qualified (e.g., "smoked pork loin bacon").[1] "USDA Certified" bacon means that it has been treated for trichinella.

I don't live in the US

swim 02-26-2009 07:34 PM

Bacon is the part of the pig that when fried becomes delicious and crunchy.

joyboyo53 02-26-2009 07:35 PM

jackhammer was asking why we distinguish between bacon and ham... i was explaining

Stupid discussion, almost as stupid as "bread and toast are similar/different" argument.

Prosciutto?

No, pancetta.

Molecules 02-27-2009 07:18 PM

the bottom line is, bacon-flavoured mayonnaise is a revolting concept that could only conceivably be enjoyed by somebody who has had their tastebuds beaten into submission by years of salt/sugar abuse and twisted novelty snack flavourings cooked up by evil scientists in labs (that's probably what's going on in area 51). Like grilled salmon with melted cheese-flavoured toasties with a chocolate/marshmallow filling. i.e. you are American

edit: additive-riddled junk food is very prevalent where i live and the world over obviously but from my experiences in America it is nowhere near as endemic.

"Bacon salt is a zero calorie, zero fat, vegetarian and kosher seasoning that makes everything taste like bacon."

There are no words to describe how awesome this company is.
