I probably would too if there wasn't this gross, over-polluted body of water in the way. Okay, it's not as bad now, but it's still gross. All I ever see in there is dead fish and seagulls pecking at them.

This is from Youngstown, NY. Obviously zoomed in, but it's what you can see on a clear day.

How cool! The only real experience I've had with seeing another city across the border was when I was in Windsor, ON, looking across the (not very wide) river to Detroit. But they're so close to each other - Windsor is practically a suburb of Detroit

Wow, that's quite impressive!

I took a picture of the city of Liverpool from where I live on a clear day, and I don't know how much of a difference in distance we're talking about, but the haze due to Manchester's urban area makes it very difficult to see anything through my long range lense:

This sort of scenery reminds me of the programme "Last of the Summer Wine."

Interesting you mention that, it's filmed in the town of Holmfirth which is about fifteen miles northeast of me!

I don't know them personally but by odd coincidence I did see them play locally at a bike shop/co-op a year and a half ago, and wrote up the performances that night for my magazine column.

Even though I'm not into metal at all any more I really enjoyed their set.

Haha!
To be fair, a lot of films are shot in these part, "Pride and Prejudice" was filmed in Lyme Park, which is even closer to me, and "The Princess Bride" was shot mainly in Derbyshire as well.

However they empty the bins only once a fortnight... lousy council.
