Yep, I've eaten kangaroo meat. It's nothing special, just your standard red meat. It's supposed to be very healthy and good for you because it's low in fat and high in good stuff. I only ate it once though and I can't bring myself to do it again, it's a bit weird.

They are only really hunted by authorities, and they are culled for the reason that due to human invasion of several ecosystems their population has grown to big and they are eating all of the vegetation, causing plants and other animals to not have enough food and become extinct. So, it's not really an excuse to go hunting, it's a real issue.

Yeah I ate some on Aborigine Day as a kid and it was pretty nice... if I remember, it was a bit gamy and maybe a cross between beef and venison. I wouldn't mind trying some more sometime.

And I had no idea that kangaroos are adept swimmers... some Australian I am. Platypi are really weird creatures as well. People think they're cute but I wouldn't fancy being swiped by one of the hind leg spurs of a male platypus... they deliver fairly venomous poison which apparently has an excruciating effect on humans (not lethal though). Oh and they're one of the very few mammals to use electroreception to locate their prey.
