Imagine this conversation:

Person A: Dude... Funny story... My roommate raped some chick in front of me.

Person B: Hahahaha oh man... Does he usually do stuff like that?

Persona A: Haha yup.

Person B: Hilaarious

Can we all see what is wrong with this picture? The response should have been "man, your friend is an as hole... I hope you punched him square on his nutsack and never talked to him again". At least that would be the decent person's response.

I hope this makes things clearer.

I see what is wrong with this picture

You are aware that 1 in 3 women will be sexually abused at some point in their life, right?

Oh I'm sorry, did I ruin your insipid little joke?

It's not funny in any context, bro.

My sister was raped when she was 17 and I was her designated Adult at the time as she was going through a difficult time and wasn't believed. He got 5 years and she has got back on with her life.

Sitting in an adjacent closed off room whilst your sister has to recount every little detail wasn't a comfortable experience as I had to listen and watch to verify it was her speaking.

That's what big brothers are for though and she made it through. Going to see her on Sunday for only the second time this year.

That's a kind thing you did, especially when you've gone through so much. That's the kind of thing that earns my respect. I despise how short the prison sentences are for rape.

Don't see why we should limit it to women either, are you aware more men are raped in America than women?

Link please - where did you get that information. Rape is terrible no matter what the victim's gender is.
