^^^I lost so much respect for him when I found out he was scientologist.....Funny though

sleepy jack 05-28-2009 07:17 PM

Because Scientology is clearly fake and absurd whereas Mormonism is a perfectly respectable instituter. ROMNEY '12

TumorAttitude 05-28-2009 08:30 PM

I know, right? They seriously think that if you have a good marriage on Earth, you and your spouse get your own planet when you die...

someonecompletelyrandom 05-28-2009 08:45 PM

Like sleepyjack said, scientology is just the same as any other religion. You shouldn't judge a person for something like that, honestly I don't see what scares people so much about scientology.

simplephysics 05-28-2009 08:48 PM

Scientology isn't scary, it's just ridiculous.

someonecompletelyrandom 05-28-2009 08:53 PM

But why do people seem to think less of others if they are a scientologist? I've heard of far crazier things in religion than what scientology teaches. I think it may just be that westerners are so narrow-minded they tend to forget that there are more religious beliefs than just different denominations of Christianity. They know the few major ones, but anything else just frightens them.

But anyway I understand there is a great possibilty that I am not making any sense right now... as I haven't really thought about this until right now.

All religions are not the same and scientology certainly isn't .. Most religions are older and beliefs and practices have evolved over time in the minds of their believers and followers.

Scientology on the other hand is clearly designed as some kind of human fly-trap.

  • I would have a hierarchy with several levels where acceptance to the next level is somehow rewarded f.ex by heightened spiritual awareness and revealed secrets. Progress through these levels will serve as a filter, making sure only those most devout and most vulnerable to suggestion rise to power in my church which is good for loyalty etc. Those who rise become more and more into the religion and more and more subjected to suggestions softening up their sense of reason so that they will accept more and more outlandish things.

They prey on the weak and much of their true beliefs remain hidden unless you rise within the church and progress through the hierarchy serves as a filter by excluding anyone too smart or too hard to manipulate. It also opens you up for further manipulation as you have to accept more and more outlandish things. That way, they ensure that only people who can benefit the church as it is rise to power within it.

.. So it's not designed to do good, mission or preach morale or what they think is some kind of truth. It's designed to capture and gain power over people (and their money I bet). I think it's pretty horrible what they're doing.

Hey, that sounds like a sweet deal, sign me up.

Forget spiders and rats and maggots and all that silly whatnot. I am afraid of rickity ladders more than anything in the world. I just discovered this today when I had to paint our two story garage on........a rickity ladder. The damn thing kept creakin and movin and sliding around and I could have swore I was going to plummet 40 feet to my death.

TumorAttitude 05-29-2009 08:40 PM

^^^Don't you guys make fun of everything else?

Erika! 05-29-2009 09:57 PM

I'm deathly afraid of spiders and heights.

boo boo 05-29-2009 10:03 PM

Uh.......

*Long pause*

Well hey there baby, how's it going? :pimp:

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-29-2009 10:09 PM

I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of the ground.

sleepy jack 05-29-2009 10:15 PM

I don't understand why people think being scared of spiders is unfounded.

lucifer_sam 05-29-2009 10:23 PM

because they're generally harmless and don't attack humans?

sleepy jack 05-29-2009 11:28 PM

That's not true. They sneak into my room and hide in corners and wait for me ;_;

lucifer_sam 05-29-2009 11:33 PM

i'd rather have them in my house than these goddamn june bugs. at least spiders serve a purpose, these things just live to piss me off.

Yeah, like Black Windows and Brown Recluses.

I'm not an expert when it comes to all the spider species, I don't know which kinds are poisonous or not, so I don't care for any of them. Grandaddy Longlegs are cool though.

well, comparatively speaking even the most dangerous spiders do little damage. there's been what, 100 deaths in the past half century (and most from allergic reactions)? compared to literally thousands of deaths every year from scorpion stings.

sleepy jack 05-30-2009 12:26 AM

Scorpions scare me too ;_;

Rats and mice.

mr. goth glam 05-30-2009 06:02 AM

I tend to be rather afraid of dying alone, drowning, white people, Arkansas and maggots.

Not very exciting.

lavitabassa 05-30-2009 06:14 AM

needles/vaccines

AshleighJane 05-30-2009 07:06 AM

The fear of anything that crawls or slithers in a disgusting way

needles too

TumorAttitude 05-30-2009 07:47 AM

I don't understand fear of those regular insects......I hate tics and leeches.

AshleighJane 05-30-2009 08:17 AM

You're missing out on some killer cheese then.

Gone Sugaring 05-30-2009 12:16 PM

I'd forgotten about needles and blood. When I was thirteen I had my wisdom teeth taken out, but in order to do so they give anesthesia which of course is injected. The nurse was nice enough to give me laughing gas before hand but while she was trying to give anesthesia, she told me "your veins keep rolling" I sat there laughing and telling her how much it was hurting that she kept poking my arms and eventually my hands. I woke up the next day with bruises up and down my arms and on my hands. I literally feel sick when I see needles now.

June bugs are the worst I totally forgot about them, I had one hit me in the head and they are like a rock.

boo boo 05-31-2009 06:01 AM

I'm confused, your profile says you have one post and you obviously have more than that.

I guess it's because I'm posting in these forums instead of the music ones.

I forgot about those too. They're killin' it right now. For such a retarded insect that seems to have absolutely zero flying skills, they sure do scare the shit out of me.
I almost want to quit smoking in the summer because of the horror of walking outside and being bombarded with such eerily malicious creatures.

I honestly think nature screwed up in the lab when designing these things.

I'd rather fire-breathing, two-headed dragon-flies with fangs, AIDS, and speakers that play Jonas Brothers songs on repeat.

PinkCigarette 06-01-2009 02:12 PM

I have anxiety disorder and get panic attacks. If I have to (for example) go on the subway a week from now, I'll worry about it right now and up until the day arrives. It's pretty annoying.

Also, when I go to a place like a mall, I have to know where all the doors are so if I have to get out, I'll know where to go.

That made me laugh, June bugs are so uncoordinated and I'm scared to try to kill one of them because the crunch would freak me out enough.

Ugh, that's the worst! I've stepped on worms by accident before and felt the nasty crunch. I can imagine how much grosser a june bug stomp would be.
