Just outta curiosity does anybody use a CD player still?

My last one was an MP3 CD player that I bought in a pawn shop back in like... 2003 and it was so good to me until it died in early '08, it outlived my first two iPods. I lost one in a pub when I was living in Wales and then I had an old 3rd generation 20 gig one that I dropped at the thing was ****ed. I took it to a specialty store that dealt with Apple products only, but they said that the costs to fix it would out weigh getting a new iPod. I just find it hilarious that old technology outlived the new stuff, and I dropped that mother quite a number of times.

Yeah. That applies to just about all electronics these days, it's sad. Or rather, pathetic.

Kevorkian Logic 05-27-2009 07:10 PM

I chose ipod classic cause that's what I use primarily.

but I own all the other types I just don't like to use them.

puckbunnie 05-28-2009 05:29 AM

i hate itunes but love the itouch. if i didnt have to have verizon as a carrier i'd get the iphone. internet at my fingertips...mmmmm

djchameleon 05-28-2009 05:58 AM

gah I hate I anythings

I just found out recently that overseas...well in singapore when you buy an iphone its not locked to at&t so you can use any carrier you want.

I have a 80GB zune that I just filled up like two days ago and I'm going to be getting a 120GB pretty soon

awhile back, I went into a best buy and put an ipod up against another mp3 player I think it was a creative. I played both sample videos on each. The creative one performed so much better than the crap Ipod. Ever since that day, I vowed never to buy one. They make so much money that they are able to slack on the quality a little bit and people will just accept it because of the fad

ConGrUenCy 05-29-2009 01:49 PM

*I have an 8gb iPod Nano 4th gen which works great. The Apple earbuds are crap though, so I bought the AKG Acoustics k271 headphones. :D

I've used one for six years. However, it recently stopped working out of the blue.
Then again, the screen stopped working two years ago, the lid was hanging off, and you had to stick a pencil in a switch to trick the player into thinking it was closed.

Yeah, I used it the shizz out of it.

Yeah i still use mine every now and again. I use my ipod and laptop most of the time now though. When i want to listen to older stuff, like 70's or 80's music, i'm more inclined to play a CD instead because it does the music more justice than an mp3 player, and unfortunatly my record player doesn't work anymore so i cant play vinyl :(
My hifi has 2 cassette decks as well so sometimes i stick on a cassette for good times sake.

jacklovezhimself 05-29-2009 02:52 PM

I figured that the number one would be the ipod classic just cause of the space.
I have the 160 GB ipod classic.
Works like a dream.

I got the iPod touch which was super expensive but it has fun games on it.

music_phantom13 05-29-2009 11:49 PM

80 Gig iPod Classic is my main mp3 player. I have an old iPod Classic like 30 Gig or something too that just has some of my old music that I don't really listen to these days, stuff I used to love but have grown out of, or other stuff I just don't really listen to these days. I really didn't get that into less mainstream music until high school, and up to then I was listening to regular stuff like Linkin Park, Green Day, and Blink-182 and a little bit of classic rock. Makes me glad I discovered what good music is :D (not directed at the classic rock).

I have an 80Gb Ipod Classic, I thought that was the biggest ipod there was. Jesus, 160Gb! I only have like six or seven Gigs on my ipod, but I have about 135Gb on my itunes, I need the space.

Janszoon 06-05-2009 01:16 AM

I have an iPod Mini, which for some reason is not one of the voting options in this poll.

I won a 4gb Nano from some church that I never attended. They had an eating contest, handed me a flyer. It was a mistake on their part.

It's a paperweight now, I've got a Zune 4 gb now that I sometimes use.

..I miss my Creative Zen

coryallen2 06-05-2009 06:33 AM

Well mine is'nt up there.... I have an 80 gig I pod.

EDIT: Its a classic I just looked.

Scots_ML 06-05-2009 06:49 AM

I have had a 20GB Rio Karma for quite a number of years now. I absolutely detest ipods and itunes. putting P2P clients on your PC without asking you. No thanks.
The Rio Karma plays mp3, ogg, and FLAC and it came with a half decent set of sennheiser cans. What more could an audiophile need?

nice, do they sell those in the states?

Burning Down 06-05-2009 09:39 PM

Hmmm... Well I have the 5th generation ipod video, 80GB. What pisses me off the most is that I bought it a couple of months before the ipod classic was released (and at a cheaper price than what I paid for mine, mind you!)

jacklovezhimself 06-05-2009 10:34 PM

I laughed when I saw ipod shuffle with zero votes.
That's mb for you!

Surell 06-05-2009 10:35 PM

nano son. Want a touch though.

Farfisa 06-06-2009 07:23 AM

Nanos are a waste of money, I had two and both broke down. My classic is still going strong and it's been chucked at a wall.

I agree. I have a video and I have dropped it, whacked it against something - you name it - countless times and it still works like a charm. The nanos are just a ****ing rip off, same with the shuffle. Come on, there's not even a screen on the shuffle!

Unfortunately these can only be bought on ebay since the company who made them went bust.
I bought another just for spares, although thankfully it hasn't been required yet.

Apparently you can open them up and exchange the drive with a larger one.
There was even a site with destructions on how to do it. :pssst:

Mine's lasted 4 and I treat it appallingly, the thing is covered in scratches. Although for the last year it's been malfunctioning a tad.

coryallen2 06-08-2009 07:00 AM

How come nobody is an Ipod shuffle? I know atleast 1 person on her has one,or is that the pussy of the Ipod world?

There's nothing wrong with it, it just doesn't lend itself very much to kind of music fan who posts on this site

Everyone here has too much music for an ipod shuffle.
I wouldn't call them the pussies of the ipod world.
The bitch of the ipod world suits it better.

coryallen2 06-08-2009 08:52 AM

Point taken.

Darkest Hour 06-09-2009 02:38 AM

all my ipods get stolen in public so i don't know. Don't ever get to put enough music on it to tell.

coryallen2 06-09-2009 06:34 AM

How do you get an Ipod stolen? I'm always listening to it. I take it you just let your stuff lay around?

jacklovezhimself 06-16-2009 07:06 PM

two of my least favorite people on mb got disabled.
awesome.
