Link Wray Today
Its some sorta celebration of Link Wray today. I don't rightly know what.
This thread is actually to disparage CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp.).
CBC is CROSS-CANADA fm radio channel ,speaking everything for Canada. As such it can be used for propaganda .
The trip they are on right now (last 6 months, I have noticed) is to mention the word "indigenous" as much as possible and bring Native American concerns in your ****ing face the whole time.
I have nothing against Indians of Canada. It is this manipulation by media which I abhor.
And everyone and his dog see thru what CBC is on about here. Really its not CBC's fault - they likely are against this: their hand is being forced by the govt.
The government wants to make it LOOK like Indian concerns come first.
They want to show they care - but , of course, it is two expensive to act.
It is so disingenuous cos next to nothing is being done about the ROOT causes of the Indian's woes - the spate of teenage suicides on the reservations (govt just announced yesterday they are sending out a meagre 20 mental health/ I guess grief councilors; for the whole of Canada.), the poison water, the schooling, etc.
So, that is propagana.
Where does Link Wray come in?
Well they were talking for 15 minutes or so about the importance of Wray - and, like I said, I guess its somesorta anniversary. They mentioned the cornerstone track "Rumble" 2 or 3 times - FAILING (unless I missed something) to bring up its importance to hardrock (power chord) and psych.
"Rumble" introduced distortion and feedback. This in the FIFTYS! (R&R , of course, not psych - but it would lead to the fuzz of much psych.)
So then CBC: tell me Yogi, how is it that one can be so sure of the true path?
