Also thoughts on the UK monarchy? I was going to post a thread with a poll but I'm not sure if enough people care. A bit embarrassed by the fuss over the Royal Wedding announcement and I do not understand why some people love the monarchy so much.

They're celebrities with a historical fetish? And their weddings have a ridiculous, English pomp that's cool? Honestly I think Americans might care more cause the idea of royals makes us think of medieval royalty and knights and ****.

We also just don't have an analogue since any politician who is not already married is assumed to be a weirdo/*** who has something wrong with them so that nobody wants to **** them.

Same for me. I kind of get that there is a charm to them but that's about it. Some guys do genuinely love the Royals and I don't understand it.

The Queen probably does a good job and some of them seem likeable (William mainly), but I don't like the thought of lesser Royals.

If the financial benefits were removed and we could open the palaces up as museums I'd get rid.

Meh, historical anachronism or not, it's still a curio of the past that's cooler than not having it as far as I'm concerned. The novelty of the royal family is interesting enough and I imagine the money spent on them is minimal enough that it's fine to just let it be and not worry about it.

And yes, I am a total ****ing princess who needs a hot female knight with a dick to rescue me from my oppressive life. But aren't all men?
