Why does youtube wield so much power when all they do is let people upload videos?

Why don’t we just use other platforms? I don’t get how youtube manages to monopolize a market while it’s so easy to replicate.

Why doesn’t 4Chan make an upload whatever video you want page and blow their boring censored crap out of the water?
