Post your desktop eh?
Here's mine. I prefer a column oriented desktop, I suppose.

My desktop. Dual monitors, vertically configured, tricked out with an ability to reverse the background on the top monitor, all my drives and main folders configured in RocketDock on the top monitor that leads me to everywhere else I need to go on my computer:
http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/4540/vfdesktop.jpg I absolutely despise a desktop with a hundred effing icons all over it. Have some damn organization skills. Categorize. You don't end up looking for crap as long that way. |
tbh VF, i like a lot of icons on a desktop. i think it adds a sort of personality to it, like you could learn more of how the person is like with what programs and stuff they keep on there. but that's just me

A jumblefuck of icons, to me, does nothing but make it harder to find what you're looking for. Not everyone outfits their computer backgrounds as a means of impressing or informing someone else. Except Star Trek Nerds. |

but yeah, i can understand not wanting to clutter it up though, i try to keep icons on there i know i'll be using frequently |

I'm on a new CPU, so I'm missing WinRAR, Last.fm, and mIRC. Everything else is right though. |
I'm not a fan of the clusterfuck approach to desktops. That background is unusually intrusive for me but you've gotta admit it looks awesome.

First, make sure your taskbar is unlocked. Drag it to the side and extend its width to your desire. Then, open up the Windows Sidebar. If you don't know where it is, you can search for it and it'll turn up quickly. To make it like mine, make sure you are using the Windows Sidebar and not the Google Sidebar, because you should have both. The calendar gadget should already be there. Then download these gadgets and add them to your sidebar accordingly:
Itunes Accessory Pandora Radio Gadget Also, if you want your sidebar to be permanently docked on the side, so that when windows are open it will look like the image below, right click the sidebar itself and click "Properties". Then click "Sidebar is Always on Top of other Windows". From here you can also select whether you want the sidebar docked on the left or the right side of the monitor. http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l.../alkakjlfa.jpg |
