So you're saying people shouldn't take care of their appearance at all? And if so that makes them a bad person?

Because that's a pretty stupid thing to say, even for you.

Word, beauty is such an objective ideal.

That is not at all what I was saying, this must be the 9000th time you have completely misunderstood me in a way I didn't even know was possible.

Saying people should feel bad because they have confidence and respect for the way they look, I personally find that very insulting. It's something a pretentious hack would say to try and seem deep but it just makes them come off as a douche.

It's kind of ironic you accuse me of misunderstanding you and then you turn around and "paraphrase" what you think Wayfarer was actually saying when it isn't really anywhere near the mark.

You can respect the way you look AND have confidence in it without plastic surgery or any of the other stuff you've advocated. It's all vanity.

That dosen't seem to be at all what he was talking about.

He basically said "if you try to look attractive to other people then that's a bad thing".

Ok then, that means, if you shave, you're a bad person, if you groom your hair, you're a bad person, if you brush your teeth, you're a bad person.

People condemn plastic surgery because it's not natural, fine. But unless you never groom yourself and look like grizzly adams, you're never truly natural. Makeup, acne cream, skin moisturizers, shaving, even dental work. It's all some form of cosmetic enhancement. And unless you're some hipster douche who listens to a lot of twee and wears flannel shirts, you probably use these things all the time.

Nope. He was saying you should be comfortable with who you are and be who are you; not who society says you should be. I don't know where you got all your radical hyperbole from his original post.

Ok, and a lot of people do take care of how they look for self confidence, and crafting their own identity.

That being said, wanting to be aesthetically pleasing to the opposite sex is not a bad thing at all, sexual attraction is basic human nature.
