That's boring. Most ALL guys wear deodorant. And actually, perfumes predate deodorant by quite a bit. So I'd actually pose the question, "what ever happened to fragrances?"

EDIT: Not that I care. Wear Axe! Wear Old Spice! Smell indistinguishable!

I don't wear axe either it smells like LOSER. I just get sickened by people who wear too much cologne/perfume, its supposed to be an accent not a bath. If used in discretion i can stomach some perfume on women to a certain degree. I mostly date surfer girls and they tend to stray from vanity, which i prefer in women and men alike. And thats my point also, your not indistinguishable if your wearing cologne or perfume, your sheep for spending hard earned money to smell like every other guy in a club.

I'm getting high school locker room flashbacks but it was mostly Old Spice.

Ah well yes, it just seems to be that the most popular fragrances are also some of the loudest (Le Male and One Million come to mind). And because they're not that popular with men, they have not a clue as to how to apply them. So really, even a relatively light fragrance could be overdone by the wrong application.

As for the bolded part, what? Maybe if you wear AdG or Curve (the go to fragrances for guys who don't care), then definitely. But that's not so in my case. Costume National 21, By Kilian's Back to Black, Hermes Ambre Narguile, etc. I can guarantee I would NOT smell like every other guy in the club. And also, it's not that expensive. My collection is largely made up of samples and decants, which tend to range between 2.5 and 7.5ml and range in price from $2.00 to $25.00 (depending on the fragrance). In my case, I've gotten quite a few for free because, thankfully, I have a forum dedicated to fragrances with very generous members. I've had some for over a year, which I can't say about deodorant. And I smell better too.

Funny you should mention the uniqueness of your fragrances. I looked them up and they are all rated in the top 50 for most popular colognes for men. That tells me you may smell more like other people then you believe. Also Kilian back to black is a very modest $225.00!! for 50 MLS? LOL Cost wouldn't be an issue to me but theres nothing unique about those fragrances according to the majority of the population everywhere. OK i'm done.

I'd love to see that list. Costume National 21 is ignored even on the forum I'm a member of, FILLED with fragrance fanatics. Hermes is very well known, so I wouldn't be terribly surprised by Ambre Narguile. Back to Black is an amazing fragrance, and wouldn't be surprised by that one either. And trust me, By Kilian isn't the only house to overprice. Add to that list Creed, Bond no. 9, Clive Christian, Amouage, and Xerjoff. I'm assuredly missing some, but these are the biggest offenders. They tend to put a lot of care into packaging, which is kind of bullshit. I like good packaging, but not when it's gonna add over $100. That's why I bought a 7.5ml decant for $20 on eBay. It'll last me at least a year.

But yes, I'd love to see the list. The whole thing is, the figures only tell the story for people who care about them, and therefore purchase them. These people are in the minority. The average person wouldn't know Costume National. The average person knows about the ones sold at JCPenney's and Bon Ton, not Bergdorf Goodman and Aedes de Venustas.

Admittedly i just used google to check those various colognes. And i readily admit that most surveys and/or ratings are based on small groups of people and averaged out over population density, I just thought it interesting they weren't quite as obscure as you let on. Packaging is becoming a problem with lots of things. why not put the added resources into making a better product or giving me more of the product, rather then giving me a fancy gold plated case to hold it in. I won't begrudge you your foo-foo juice. Stink on.

Ohh no. They're far from obscure. There are obscure fragrances out there, like Knize Forest (only available for purchase in Germany), but most aren't worth the trouble. Although it is a nice green fragrance.

And yes, us fragrance fanatics have the same sentiment. If they could just put out small bottles in plain packaging, we'd all be ecstatic. Until then, we just rely on decants. And thank you! I shall.
