I imagine you'd need to know that stuff to be a Sysadmin for a company. I took a semester for that stuff in community college and all the little things you had to remember blew my head right off my shoulders.

Sysadmin has very little to do with hardware details. The sysadmin at the school I worked at spent basically all of her time in Microsoft Active Directory/SCCM. She also created the images for deployment and managed the content filter. Obviously working for a school would be different than working for some big for-profit corporate place, so idk there could be differences.

I'm a Network Engineer so I deal with infrastructure, access points, switches/routers, servers, domain controllers...hardware specs like Plankton's been talking about has never once come up in my work

I run a CAD department. I need to know hardware as well as networking.

Got a Google Pixel 4 today, it's very fantzy.

Fantz fer yer pantz.

My RAM came in the mail yesterday. I installed it and and my laptop got up, grabbed a beer and started playing random Mingus tunes while finding the moments of inertia for five trillion separate truss designs as it told people on social media that all their base belong to us. It was only at 5% of it's resources.

I'd rather do your face than your fingers.

I was starting to feel a touch of the winter blues as I'm spending the holidays alone so I popped into a local Christmas record show and had the time of my life crate digging through a DJs killer collection of mint 90s electronic promos. I took an armful home and I'm absolutely blown away by how punchy and dynamic they play on my Denon hi-fi and Focal floor speakers.

I'm dancing like a monkey to jams from from Apollo Four Forty, Moby, Stereo MC's, Dave Gahan, Leftfield, Babylon Zoo, The KLF, Underworld, and DJ Punk-Roc's "Beatbox" cranked up to eleven. (And with over 600 Underworld objects in my archive, it's a rare feat that I can score DJ promos in the US that I don't already have!)

It takes me back to driving down the highway with 90.5 WBER FM on full blast back in high school.

This is precisely what I needed.

Music is always the best medicine for the blues. I know it is for me. Happy Christmas, ISB. :wavey:

Very pleased that my son has taken an interest in playing drums this past year. I bought him an electronic drum kit, since we can't have an acoustic drum kit in our apartment. I think he'll be totally surprised.
