It's worth it. My jaw was agape with the bell activation at the top of the lighthouse at the very beginning of the game. They really didn't hold back with this one, as far as I can tell. And when you make it to the city...wow. Gorgeous stuff. It's like a flying World's Fair.

I've had my eyes on these since a buddy of mine brought them over to my house for a Halloween party. Great volume levels which should give me the edge I need to suggest my downstairs neighbor turn down the bass on their crappy music.

Happy birthday, and I'm going to hope that the image just isn't loading and that you actually did get yourself something. :p:

Apparently Dropbox isn't the best site to use to hotlink images, so I uploaded it to another image hosting site and edited the link in both my post and yours so now you look like a nutter.

Nice man, I've always wanted to learn how to play the banjo! I've heard it's rather difficult to learn, but man do I love the timbre of that instrument.

LoathsomePete 04-13-2013 04:09 PM

I've played guitar on and off for about 10 years now so a lot of that has been helping, but I am finding it really hard to use the metal finger picks so I've just been alternating between my fingers and a regular guitar pick. I'll learn how to play with those later, but for right now I'm just enjoying it as it is.

Don't the thin strings irritate your fingers, though? I hear that's a common complaint. You'll get a better, brighter tone with the finger picks anyways.

Is it tuned GDGBD?

LoathsomePete 04-13-2013 05:38 PM

There's definitely a better tone if I'm doing rolls with the banjo picks, but I find them to be really clumsy and often screw up. As for the irritation, my fingers are definitely sore after about 4 hours of practice, but I think that's more to do with the fact that I haven't played guitar for that long in years. I think I might go see if I can find a metal guitar pick and play around with that until I learn how to use the actual banjo picks.

As for the tuning, yes I'm using open G tuning for now.

LoathsomePete 04-23-2013 08:21 AM

Decided to return my banjo and use the proceeds from selling my Google Nexus 7 tablet and buy this

http://images.guitarcenter.com/produ...e_430664_R.jpg

Mitchell MBJ200 Delux-5 String Banjo

It has a really nice neck and fretboard when compared to my Epiphone 100-MB and this one also comes with a resonator which gives me a much nicer sound. Last night it almost sounded like I was running it through some kind of modulator effect, like a flanger or something.

I bought my first house! Closed yesterday and move in Friday. I'm so poor now.

Going to paint it soon hopefully, quite boring colors right now. And some landscaping, of course.

Congratulations. Looks like a craftsmen?

sidewinder 04-24-2013 12:06 PM

Yup, built in 1920. Front left was originally an open porch, now a sunroom/mudroom. Going to eventually build a small open deck in front of that, just to fit a couple of chairs.

I love craftsmen, unfortunately in Cali they're are all redone and out of my range. Good looking house with lots of potential indeed. Awesome.

sidewinder 04-24-2013 12:34 PM

Yeah many are out of my price range here too, trust me. This one doesn't need too much, but just enough that we'll give it our own personal touch. Good starter house.

Columbia City. We are renting a house in the Ballard/Phinney area now and would have loved to stay there, but we're not rich enough to buy there.

Well, finally got a Martin. A small, mini version of a Martin (made in Mexico to boot), but a Martin none the less.

Actually like the sound of these 3/4 guitars. Was between this and the Baby Taylor, but I find the screws on the Baby Taylor to be tacky. Plus, I find the sound on the Martin to be a tad better anyway.

So for a travel guitar, it will do it's job. Just got it to replace the Cort Earth Mini I had before, I would up selling it. This is a much more worthy travel guitar than that one anyway. Just need to put a pick guard on this and it will be perfect.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8254/8...82eb0cee55.jpg

Picked these up today too. Tickets to Supersuckers, what more is there to say.

(Oh, and I love the Care & Feeding guide for the guitar. Never had to feed a guitar before.)

LoathsomePete 04-28-2013 10:33 PM

I'm kicking myself for not getting my banjo down in Mexico, my cousin down there says they're super cheap. C'est la vie.

Be happy with your guitar regardless of where it was made. My Mexican Fender Telecaster is one of the finest guitars I've ever played.

BastardofYoung 04-29-2013 12:03 AM

Oh, I am more than happy with it. For a 3/4 sized, it plays beautifully. A drastic improvement over the Cort, which would sound dead in a short time. Sounded decent with new strings, but once they dulled, so did the tone of the Cort.

Like the Cort, it has a solid Spruce top, which I like.

Scarlett O'Hara 04-29-2013 05:05 AM

The other day I bought the Matrix on DVD. I only have watched half of it because it keeps playing up on my computer. I'm pretty sure I can't take it back.
