Imo one of the greatest works of French cinema. In my top ten movies ever. The criterion edition looks tasty because it updates the previous edition's ****ty translation and has a commentary with Kassovits. I'll post my thoughts when it gets here, but Criterion does a good job usually.

They've had a few used ones at the shop down the street from me. I usually stop and press my nose to the glass for a minute on my way home from work. I'm about halfway to purchasing, but Xmas, and the daughters B-Day set me back a bit. By springtime, I should have more than enough. There's a lot of trails out here that I can't get to without the risk of getting pulled over on my little dirt bike, so this will keep things legal.

Frownland 01-14-2016 11:49 AM

That's the joke I was making. You know all of the (digitally available in legal terms) criterion films are on hulu, right?

DeadChannel 01-14-2016 11:58 AM

Yeah. We don't get hulu in Canada. I know that I could just use a proxy, but I buy dvds for the special features anyway. Criterion also comes with nice printed film essays and stuff. Otherwise I just torrent ****...

Anyway, I got it because I had some amazon gift cards.

Frownland 01-14-2016 12:03 PM

You guys are missing out on one of the best series of website glitches that the internet has to offer.

DeadChannel 01-14-2016 12:06 PM

Yeah, I've heard that. Worse than Netflix?

Frownland 01-14-2016 12:07 PM

It's so bad I'd cancel my subscription if I weren't mooching off of my parents. Netflix I can handle.

DeadChannel 01-14-2016 12:09 PM

Still, at least they have criterion movies etc.
The selection on Netflix is pretty sparse, at least here in Canada.

innerspaceboy 01-16-2016 12:49 PM

Popped into a local coin and stamp shop and bought two antique currency pieces - a China Kwang Tung Province 1 Cash coin from 1889 and a Denmark 5 Ore from 1927.

Once I add a long leather chord, these will make nice neo-bohemian retro-west-coast gypsy necklaces for my ongoing cultural appropriation project.

The boots have landed. My first pair of Dr. Martens #1460 8-eye black boots.

I wore army boots all through my teens but these are a different world entirely. They feel like a fortress around my feet and are insanely comfortable. Thanks, Doc!

A pair of shows for my daughter.

Great band and I'd imagine equally great footwear. Might look into buying some.

Those Dr. Martens bring back memories. My brother had a pair, albeit in tan, in the 80s, to go with his drainpipe jeans, his skinhead haircut, and his Sex Pistols record.

I hope he had that record on him at all times.

I'd forget my name if my mother didn't sow it into my clothes.

Np.

Frownland 01-29-2016 01:35 PM

Just got my ticket for this mother****er. I haven't been this excited for a show in a while. Won't be seeing the Theory of Obscurity screening before the show, unfortunately.

Good thing I'm in Buffalo.

RoxyRollah 01-31-2016 11:29 AM

A lodestone. l, almost fell over with the friggin thing in my hand at the supernatural supermarket. It threw my equilibrium waaay off and gave me a mild headache...Im used to her now, but it was rough for the first couple hours.

Snowless 02-01-2016 08:08 AM

Some jeans and shirts. And a cabo for my guitar.

Went antiquing today. Was INCREDIBLY tempted to pick up a complete set of Sesame Street Fischer Price Little People (because the feels) -

http://i.imgur.com/AsBYc9ol.jpg

They were $140 which is the fair market price (especially to get them all at once), but I passed on the opportunity.

I was also on the hunt for a pair of vintage Rodin's The Thinker bookends for my 70s sci fi mass market paperbacks. Found three sets at various booths and took home the pair with the best patina.

Only Oscar the Grouch would be safe, though, because the trash can lid would keep you from losing the toy up your ass.

Jane Austen - Pride and Prejudice throw blanket based on the artwork from the prized 1896 Peacock Edition.

DwnWthVwls 05-09-2016 08:40 PM

^where did you find it? Nice.

innerspaceboy 05-09-2016 08:44 PM

I was looking for the best edition of P&P and stumbled upon the Peacock Edition, and when I searched for images detailing the edition I found a thumbnail of the blanket hosted on Pintrest.com. A reverse-Google Image Search led me to UncommonGoods.com which sells the throw.

Mine should be in the post in the weeks ahead.

A gentleman's frock from 1906 to wear at my wedding. It's a costume-friendly event and I'm styling my attire after Number 48 from the 1967 BBC series, The Prisoner.

http://i.imgur.com/vJvB1DIl.jpg

Also purchased ornamental frog fasteners for some modifications I'll be making to the piece.

http://i.imgur.com/H5I03zsl.jpg

and picked up a Tibetan Buddhist meditation bell to make the costume complete.

In 1981, Dead Kennedy's released their In God We Trust EP with side B intentionally left blank and the message, "Home taping is killing record industry profits! We left this side blank so you can help!"

In the spirit of the EP and of the failed UK anti-piracy campaign of the era, I've just uploaded and ordered a custom printed tri-blend tee with a parody graphic of the famous image.

I needed a new headset after my logitech ones finally crapped out on me after 6 years or so.

So I picked up these bad boys.

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....3L._SX425_.jpg

Afterglow headset. It says I can use it with my ps4 but I don't really see how since it only has a jack and no usb connector. I don't think this version is bluetooth compatible either.

Exo 07-03-2016 04:35 PM

I picked up some new cans as well. Decided to go with a trusted and widely reviewed and liked brand for a modest price.

AKG K240

https://s2.graphiq.com/sites/default...io_4392053.jpg

They come in on Tuesday. I'm excited.

innerspaceboy 07-03-2016 04:53 PM

I'll join in. My recent headphone purchase - the Audioquest Nighthawks.

Transitioning from a pair of circumaural closed back studio monitors with a nearly invisible sound signature to this semi-open model has been a difficult challenge, but they're growing on me.
