The great peanut butter debate

You decide.

music_phantom13 10-28-2009 09:01 AM

Where the hell is the love for creamy? Chunky's gross.

boo boo 10-28-2009 09:01 AM

I love both, but I like chunky just a little bit more.

VEGANGELICA 10-28-2009 09:22 AM

An important debate topic!

I voted "creamy," although I actually prefer chunky. Why? I used to always buy chunky (natural organic) peanut butter all the time, enjoying the contrast in texture between the creaminess and the little hard bits to chew on, like hidden surprises. However, one time as I was happily chewing said little surprises, I felt one so hard that I worried I was chipping a tooth! So, I filtered out the creamy peanut butter (now converted to a saliva-peanut butter slurry) down my throat to leave all the hard bits in my mouth, then spit them out. What did I find? Yes, the suspense is probably killing you. A ROCK! *That's* what I found.

Moral of story: buy creamy peanut butter to protect your teeth.

Teddy's

Where is the "both" option? Also here they used to sell chocolate peanut butter which was AMAZING stuff!

NumberNineDream 10-28-2009 11:11 AM

I go "chunky" when eating an only peanut butter sandwich. If I'm mixing peanut butter and chocolate, then "creamy" is the way to go.

So both.

NSW 10-28-2009 11:50 AM

Chunky...always chunky.

WWWP 10-28-2009 12:13 PM

I'm not even supposed to eat peanut butter beacause I'm allergic to nuts (har har), but I can get away with eating it if it's creamy.

Alfred 10-28-2009 12:16 PM

The only time I use peanut butter is to make peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches, in which case I use creamy.

This, but I usually just use nutella as a peanut butter substitute.

Farfisa 10-28-2009 01:13 PM

Chunky, only because I'm sick of creamy.

FETCHER. 10-28-2009 01:22 PM

Chunky, always.

Isn't that just nutella?

Anyways, I said creamy. I used to like chunky more, but nowadays I only like it in sandwiches. I like creamy more on crackers and such, which is how I eat most of my peanut butter

yeah, well smuckers has never had a salmonella recall, unlike that peter pan peanut butter.

FETCHER. 10-28-2009 02:39 PM

I don't even know what Peter Pan peanut butter is, google just never had the brand my mum used to buy. Well I never remembered what it was called, so it was the first one that looked remotely like normal peanut butter.

Werewolf 10-28-2009 05:04 PM

Creamy by far.

anabundanceoftubes 10-28-2009 05:12 PM

Chunky

mr dave 10-28-2009 05:54 PM

the day anyone can teach me how to apply a nice even layer of chunky PB to a slice of untoasted bread without tearing it all up to hell is the day i finally stop looking at creamy PB as the greatest thing ever.

I prefer chunky, despite the horrendous downside.

gunnels 10-28-2009 06:08 PM

Horrendous downside?

I'm actually chowing down on a pack of Dry Roasted Peanuts as I type. a drinking staple food and easily digestable by us 'southern softies' ahem.

NSW 10-28-2009 06:43 PM

^ And what does that have to do with peanut butter mister?

i have no idea what you mean:wave:

but a pb and j sandwich would be a good lunch, with some celery and carrot sticks on the side.

jackhammer 10-28-2009 07:12 PM

I have never eaten a Peanut butter and Jam (jelly) sandwich and quite frankly never want to. Sounds disgusting although I do enjoy mash potato sandwiches but I am digressing...

NSW 10-28-2009 07:16 PM

You've never had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? EVER? You haven't lived...

Edit: Mash potato sandwiches are awesome too!

It's the reason why I am still living! I like to look after my calorie intake! It just doesn't appeal to me at all.

Zarko 10-28-2009 08:12 PM

Vegemite

(Sorry was having a vegemite vs peanut butter debate with a friend recently, the Americanised bastard :p:)

Guys, do yourselves a favor and have just one. If you don't like it fine but I don't know anyone who doesn't like peanutbutter and jelly

Alternatively, Peanut Butter and honey or peanut butter and banana

simplephysics 10-28-2009 10:12 PM

A toasted PB + J sandwich is awesome, I use to live for that shit when I was a kid.

LoathsomePete 10-28-2009 10:16 PM

I'm a fan of chunky peanut butter, have been since I was a little kid. I'm not really sure if I could even explain it, I think it's more of a comfort thing than anything else. I'll eat smooth if that's all that's available, but if pressed I'll choose chunky over smooth anytime.
