I was searching for a reference to an old punk venue near where I live called The Mayflower Club and somehow ended up here.
I noticed a thread on The Kinks (a band I love and highly rate) made by Stu (then, LedZepStu) and realised after a few visits that this site wasn't a bad place to read about what other people were listening to.
To be frank, I still do more reading than posting. I don't think my post average has ever gone higher than 5 posts per day.
Since joining this forum I now belong to another forum which specialises in rare soul where I post far more.

The potential of this place is massive.
It has a multi-national membership which gets bigger every year and covers just about every music genre going.
There's still a long way to go and together we can help make this forum the biggest and best music site on the internet.

Edit: oops...soz Marijan I started off editing my original post to include that lot ^ and somehow deleted my original comment after refreshing the page. :/
Probable cause...alcohol.
I've had that problem for years....I read so much and type so little.

I also came here through a google search. I'm a member of a norwegian music forum, but it's dead so this is the only forum at the moment where I'm active. Before coming here, I was active on various other forums, mostly related to gaming.

I was looking for a band, googled it, and the 3rd or 4th result was some site called Music Banter. So I went there, looked through the forum for a while and ended up joining. It's the only forum I've ever really been an active member of.

I think I searched Swirlies shoegaze or something like that and for some reason I went to the second page of results. I saw a link to some site called musicbanter and was interested, and here I am.

I also found it through google. I looked up something about Black Metal and then I saw an electronica section and got all giddy. Until I realized the majority of the members stayed in the rock and metal sections.. but that was more or less to be expected.

I found the place when I was 16 and obsessed with message boards. It is the best boards I've ever been on for sure! I feel like an old lady now. I am still pining for old members though.
