Christmas for me is just an excuse to get drunk (at least on that day, my parents can't make a big deal out of it).

A new guitar
A plasma tele for the wall
A guitar plectrum necklace
Kurt Cobain canvas
Few other bits and bobs.

That'd make TheCunningStunt a happy chappy!

Yeah I'm very tempted this year to say I don't want to participate in a gift exchange, but my parents always ask me to send them gift ideas anyway so then I feel bad and end up getting stuff for others anyway. The key is to just limit spending. Having a girlfriend is always an issue too, they're so hard to please. You can never spend enough.

Yeah it's pretty cool, I'll be staying at my buddy's place for awhile then my dad and step mom are going out of town from the 25th to the 2nd so I'll be looking after their apartment. Nice yuppie style apartment stocked with food, laundry, and Internet so I won't have to go to a coffee shop or anything.

Dude you need to get out and enjoy the city! Although yuppie style apartments are cool. I love the architecture there, and everything is so clean! Without going too far east in downtown of course.

I've lived in Vancouver for years so I've enjoyed what downtown can provide me with. I'm honestly just going up to see friends and family, maybe do a little bit of shopping, and hopefully do some hiking if the weather permits.

I will be celebrating Christmas in Antarctica, camping out in the field, so the only wishlist I have is that I come out alive and get a good secret santa present.

all i'm asking for is a new phone this christmas, mine current one's got a big ol' split in the screen and now it's bleeding green around the crack. Can't make out half the text messages I get anymore.

What are you doing in Antarctica?! That is insane.

I'm hoping for some video games, mostly. Hoping for: Assassin's Creed II, Left 4 Dead 2, some other stuff coming out about that time. And some books - Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash and Steven Erikson's Memories of Ice are top of my list. Books and games are basically all I want every year, so, yeah.

I don't get Christmas presents because my immediate family is cheap and I'm the only one with money. So I usually have to buy them all the presents, and buy my own.
This year, however, I won't buy my own because I'm trying to save money, and I'm already getting lists from my family, so I don't think I could cover my end anyway.

So far, I'm supposed to buy my mom all sorts of cooking stuff, my dad wants Acetylene and a new torch, My two little sisters never straight up ask me, but they always end up getting something pretty awesome from me... I just don't know if I can handle it this year.

Last year I bought both my sisters brand new laptops, and the parents got all kinds of stuff.
They pooled together and bought me a wallet.
The year prior, I put a system in one sister's car and got a home theater setup for the other sister.
I liked giving those gifts, but I just hope they don't get upset that this year won't be like that. Between college, transitioning to a new place and getting new furniture, bills, and trying to save, I just don't see myself being a very impressive santa this year.

So this year,
I just hope to get some appreciation even though I won't be able to come through like I have in the past.

I'm crossing my fingers for that.

I'd be uncomfortable accepting a gift of that magnitude from someone, especially if I wasn't gifting something substantial back. Given your past generosity they should just appreciate what you have done, and understand the situation. you're in now.. Hopefully it turns out that way dude.
