Burr gets a LOT of mileage out of his ironic lisp in his latest special.

music_collector 08-22-2022 07:37 PM

Burr's screaming reminds me of Sam Kinison.

Is Denis Leary still doing standup? His act was pretty good back in the day.

This is Paper Tiger, or is there a more recent one? I didn't care for PT but I think its because I saw him on the tour that lead into it.

Carpe Mortem 08-23-2022 06:04 PM

He had a newer one on Netflix - Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks. Pretty excellent. He comes out swinging at several subgroups per usual and I'm reminded why he is one of my celebrity crushes.

WWWP 08-23-2022 08:34 PM

Burr is unbeatable.

Exo 08-24-2022 08:44 AM

His bit about the dude that jumped out of the Helicopter is a masterclass of how to do it.

Plankton 08-24-2022 09:03 AM

I watched every episode of F Is For Family and now I have a seizure every time I hear his voice.

He is funny though.

That’s because you’re not a Star Wars geek like me

I used to be...when I was TWELVE!

SGR 08-24-2022 03:14 PM

The best Star Wars is easily The Phantom Menace. The first movie to have podracing (which spawned a kickass N64 game), and it had the best Star Wars villain, Darth Maul with his cool as **** dual-lightsaber, and most importantly, it had Frown's favorite Star Wars character, Ja Ja Binks.

Did I mention Liam Neeson? Nuff said.

Exo 08-24-2022 03:25 PM

That N-64 podracing game was pretty legit. I really liked the upgrades you could buy. I was always Ody Mandrell.

Hell yeah it was. I think I played as Ben Quadinaros but it's been years. I think they actually re-released it for modern platforms - been meaning to play it again for some time now. Relive the nostalgia and all.

Go look at the character list. I can't remember my wife's f*cking phone number but I can remember all those stupid names.

Oh I did - but yet still, I can't remember for sure - Ben's avatar looked the most familiar to me but again, I don't think I've played it since I was 6 or 7 years old.

And WIFE? I thought you were getting married this upcoming month? Or was that last September?

Two weeks from Friday. I am SO DONE with saying fiance. F*cking hate that word. She's basically my wife at this point.

Just wanted to make sure I haven't completely lost track of time. You must be excited man! I'm sure everything will go great! Congrats again!

I've been married for almost two years and still, a telemarketer called me recently: "Have I reached Mr. and Mrs. [SGR]"? And reflexively I said, nah, but you've reached their son. Still not used to being referred to as a collective with my wife as Mr. and Mrs. Some things take time I suppose.

I hope you're still planning to get "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire played like I suggested. :p:

Boston traffic sucks on Earth, nevermind in space with flying space cars and the multitude of one way intergalactic lanes!

I do when I have to go to Boston. But I prefer to avoid Boston and its stinky subways altogether.

music_collector 08-24-2022 05:48 PM

I like the Boston subway. I seem to recall the trains turning on what looked like right angles.

SGR 08-24-2022 05:50 PM

I will say this though, Mike's Pastry is the real deal. The amount and variety of delicious pastries you can get for your money is ridiculous there.

Subways in Boston taking right angles? Are you sure you weren't taking drugs that night?

music_collector 08-24-2022 05:53 PM

I wish I could remember the name of the Italian restaurant I went to new long wharf. The calzones there were the size of NFL regulation footballs.

They have a lot of turns they didn't plan for, but Harvard got really whiney about the noise.

The corner in Boylston station, and the grinding of steel on steel, sounds like the tortured souls in the 4th layer of hell.

Some of the turns felt like right angles. I know I wasn't hallucinating. I hadn't even stopped at Bull & Fitch or the Beerworks by that point.

I remember the noise. Oh boy that was a noisy choo choo. That is an accurate description.

Lol

I should mention that in my city, we have light rail. The service (I use that term loosely) is down more than it's up. There is currently a judiciary inquiry into the first stretch of track, and why it's such a lousy setup. I suspect too many people were concerned with lining their pockets with green paper, instead of building train tracks.

Some things will take even more time. I sometimes react like that too. It's been 12 years. I still fidget with my ring.

Chris D’Elia is not a good standup comic. He’s a funny dude but it doesn’t translate.

That's probably the biggest problem with comedy today. People think Funny=Funny, and a sitcom writer, a standup comic, and a John Oliver type aren't the same thing. There was no standup set worse than that Ilana Glazer special. It was like an AI Bot wrote a standup set after reviewing 5 million tweets.

Yuck, I didn't know she had a special. Not surprised to see it's with Amazon. You got guys like Andrew Schulz and Mark Normand self-releasing on youtube and meanwhile the comedy-adjacent get contracts for specials without ever having done an open mic. Smh man have some god damn respect for the game.

TheBig3 09-06-2022 06:28 PM

I mean, I'm saying the obvious but it's all "which person has a big enough following to get our money back plus some."

The era of "building your personal brand" is one of the worst timelines.

This guy is kinda funny, never heard of him til recently.
