Can you be more specific in your complaint? Otherwise you're not advancing the argument any more than the people you're complaining about.

I feel like the thread is very one-sided, or at least what I've read. The people standing up for vegans/vegetarians/non-meat eaters/etc have all of these supporting statements and such.
And the meat-eaters are like, I don't give a ****, I like meat. Or **** you guys, you're being stupid, look at this burger. Or I just like the meat, I feel bad sometimes but whatever. Or we're supposed to eat meat.

I feel like it's the argument against homosexuality. What, because we started out eating meat, everyone has to eat it? It's stupid to think otherwise?
What about the fact that there are many opinions in the world, not just one.
What about being respectful to the multiple types of people who have these opinions and not shoving it in their face that they hold one that's a bit different?

I think a lot of people are just in here to be rude, and it makes for a really obnoxious and invalid debate. People like Dirty are just saying things because they can, not because they know anything. People like Loose-Lips are just answering the question like a million other people did.

I just feel like it's going around in circles. If you're going to post in this thread and try to make conversation, then read some of the things said previously. If not, then what's the point of posting in the thread in the first place? Nobody gives a **** if you're ONE more person who likes meat and doesn't give a **** about animals if you have nothing more to say on the subject.

Violent & Funky 11-09-2010 12:52 AM

I still haven't seen a proper justification to not eat meat. Honestly, I would find "it just doesn't taste good" to be the most acceptable reasoning...

Well said. But there's been over 700 posts since February, so all one can do is read the OP and the most recent arguments. We're looking for a reason not to eat meat, if one exists. So no one should have to apologize for putting forth reasons in compliance with the OP:

This would seem to rule out arguments about there being no reason not to eat meat, wouldn't it? So are we talking about the relative merit of different reasons? :)

Right, UB doesn't ask there how many people like burgers.

Because they're not the minority of users. It's less efficient for example, to list all of the genres that aren't metal, than it is to list the ones that are.

It certainly doesn't matter to other animals, nor does it benefit them.

Y'know... other animals are superior to us in a LOT of ways. Intelligence only trumps that if we're competing with them, and we're still odd man out in a lot of scenarios.
I don't care how smart you think you are, you are very likely to be outmatched in every way that matters if you are put in a wits vs. brawn battle against most animals out there, provided you aren't absolutely prepared.. which... hey, let's just assume you're not prepared for everything all of the time, as absurd as that may seem to you...

Depends how you define things like intelligence. I think things like creating automobiles, medicines, etc are all smart things that animals can not do. I guess some people apparently disagree with that which I find kinda funny.

Advancing the human race is all that really matters to me. I couldn't care less about a spiders web... good for the spider. Lots of animals do things that help out their fellow animals, as do we. But we are, by far, the most intellectual and have the most effect on things. People are atop the ladder of life. We are the master species and that's not a stance that will change for me. I find it pretty obvious.

But why would other animals want to build a car?

I think one burger was posted. And i don't think it was all that serious. Get some tougher skin and get over it.

It's called stating your opinion. Same thing you are doing.

You still don't get it... So if other people feel the same way, then I shouldn't? Or I shouldn't post my opinions about something because other people feel the same? People are just posting what they feel. Sounds like you're bitter cause most of them aren't on your side of things.
