well you and anyone else who shares that sentiment is flat-out wrong. i am not saying you don't live in england - you do - but the island, that is, the mass of land on which the country england is found is called great britain. if you are saying the island is called england, you are saying that scotland and wales are found on the island of england...

you can't live in england and not be on great britain. unless unbeknownst to me it has physically become seperate and floated off.

i think you're equating great britain to the united kingdom. which is incorrect - GB = physical landmass, UK = political state which happens to govern that whole landmass plus northern ireland.

not to be nitpicky. its a peeve of mine.

I think he just means that he'd rather be referred to as being English, as opposed to being British.

That's cool you saw that bridge. I've visited Bangkok, Phuket, and Krabi. Never for more than a few days at a time, though. I really feel lucky to have seen so much of Southeast Asia, it really is an amazing place.

Back across the bridge in the photo was a war cemetery for the commonwealth and allied soldiers who had died constructing the railway under appalling conditions at the hands of the Japanese.
The Thai people looked after the cemetery and to their credit it was pristine.
The only occasion that spoilt my trip across south east asia was the Japanese tourists trampling all over the place, seemingly unaware of the barbaric treatment their soldiers meted out to the prisoners.
Imagine German tourists chatting excitedly and taking endless photos on a day trip out to Auschwitz and you get the picture.

6 euro a pint?! That's not right, what pubs did you go into? It's usually around 4.50 a pint in my town, and that's still a bit pricey.

Yeah the further west you go in ireland the nicer it gets, especially Galway, Clare and Kerry.

The east coast is great if you love admiring boring housing estates and industrial estates.

Lago Camecuaro, Michoacan.

These trees are so old that the roots form islands in the lake, islands I used to swim to with friends as a kid to get away from the raucousness of the shore. The whole area is beautiful.

I went to Cork, I thought it'd be a slightly cheaper alternative then the capital..

The trip was ruined due to the prices, burger king, 2 hamburgers, 2 large fries, 2 cokes.. 14 euro.

Yup. I think CC and I got our wires crossed. I'm pretty sure I'm au fait with the island I live in by now and I was just saying that inhabitants of the U.K class themselves as English etc and not British unless it's official documentation etc

We're only British during wartime.
