Urban's Top 100 'The Most Annoying & Over Rated Items In The World' Thread

I almost feel incomplete when I'm not doing one of these.
Like the last one, this isn't in any order.

I'm going against all my working class roots here but this stuff is vile.
I've never liked beer, I've never even pretended to like beer.
I might have the occasional one to be social but that's more not to rock the boat and be difficult if someone else is buying a round then having any great love for it.
I can honestly say I have never ever seen the appeal of drinking beer at home. I just don't find it refreshing in the slightest and to be honest at least in a pub you can vomit on someone else's carpet rather than your own.
While everybody else in England watches the World Cup from their sofa with a huge case of beer in the fridge i'll be much happier with a fridge full of cold refreshing fruit juice.

The main reason I dislike beer isn't so much the taste aspect though. I mean I drink whiskey so I can't really use the taste as an excuse to include beer here.
It's more to do with the sheer amount of volume of the stuff you have to consume of it to have any effect on you.
Why the hell would I want to knock back pint after pint after pint of the stuff when instead I can get the same amount of drunkness from casually sipping on a Jack Daniels & Coke without all the sweating, belching, farting pissing & dribbling that comes with drinking several pints of beer.

It's a sartorial thing as well, I want to stand there sipping on a whiskey or a brandy looking cool & sophisticated just in case I attract the attention of any nice ladies that happen to be in the vicinity. And if you are a woman and your idea of coolness & sophistication is watching some bloke necking 5 pints & belching in your face then quite honestly I'm sure i'll manage without your attention.

And what the hell is America's obsession with 'Lite' beers?
Isn't that like drinking beer that's twice as pointless?

I'm the same! I've always had people moan at me because I dislike lager, but I drink it just to be social. Although I prefer Cider even though that tastes like piss after a while. Lager really is shit. Spirits > Beer. Despite it not being 'blokey'.

Agreed on basically all counts. Also, if you're throwing a party and get a few crates of the stuff in, you're pretty much guaranteed to spend about half the day after picking up stray bottles and mopping up stains in the carpet from the stuff. That said, I do love going down the pub and trying out some of the local brews - tastes about a gazillion times better than any of the cheap shite in the supermarkets. And I dread to think what 'lite' beers taste like, probably a diluted form of Corona (which never really crossed my mind as being possible 'til now). Whiskey and gin over beer anyday for me.

Cool thread.

Bah. I will happily be the guy necking 8 or 9 pints of beer and belching in the ladies face. Well, hopefully i wouldnt do the latter but i like beer. Infact im not much of a spirit drinker, i could get by on consuming only beers and lagers alcohol-wise for the rest of my life and not miss the alternatives.

Im looking forward to this thread. Here we go again...

What about 'ladies' that drink beer? Give me a cold Stella over spirits any day. Apartfrom the rare occasions when I find a pub that sells Sailor Jerry's anyway...

If I see a 'lady' in a bar and I quite like the look of her, if she's drinking lager it would probably put me off. Girls drinking lager = common.

Fixed ;)

Exactly. :D She'd have to be something special for me to still be interested after watching her neck lager.

Does it make a difference if it's a pint or a bottle? I'm lady-like enough to insist on drinking bottles rather than swilling a pint everywhere...

There's an important distiction between bottle drinkers and pint drinkers!

Depends if it's from a bottle or not and how drunk she is.
