Pretentious is pretty much the tactful way of telling somebody that they're stuck up their own ass. Kind of like they're putting you on, and if you don't go along with it, then you "just don't get it".

I hate it when people use the phrase "Shes just gagging for it". Not really a word, but f*ck, its annoying.
