Monica was supposed to be obnoxious. The point is that her obnoxiousness was a result of how much she neurotically cared about how the world perceived her, which is a pretty relatable character trait.

Pheobe was kind of just a stereotype of a modern hippie new age person.

Okay well just because a character is written well doesnt make them enjoyable. I literally wanted to punch the mother from Everybody Loves Raymond.

Just because a character is written well to be punchable doesn't make them not enjoyable.

Yeah thats fine but for me that was not the case wih Monica. She just ruined parts of the show for me.

I would steer clear of Friends. I didn't think the show was funny. It was painful to watch. It was total cringeville imo.
