Just because you think your kid is some kind of ~special snowflake~ doesn't mean you have any right to open a bigass can of infectious disease on humanity after we've spent hundreds of years finding medical solutions to these deadly ailments.

Unless you have specific advice from a pediatrician. Even in that case, I would get a second opinion (not sure why someone would go to their neurologist for this type of thing, it's like visiting a windshield repairman to ask if you should change your spark plugs).

There would have to be some kind of stand-in treatment or alternative protection in extreme cases (whatever they may be - I'm not a medical professional, nor do I know much about biology - but I can tell you a lot about things relating to psychiatric issues) but like you said, why is their neurologist giving advice on how to treat an autoimmune condition?

I can see if it's something else relating to the brain (encephalitis, maybe?) or spinal cord/nervous system but something just doesn't add up here.

I am 1000% for vaccines. If you don't have your kids get them you are a loser and I hate you. Jenny McCarthy will burn in hell.

Both my kids got them all. Everything.

If one of our doctors back then had said, "let's think about this for minute", I would have.

I just think we owe Chelsea the benefit of the doubt to tell the whole story before burnings at the stake.

Herd immunity is the alternative for those extreme cases. Everyone who can gets vaccinated to make sure that they aren't symptomless carriers who could infect people who either can't get the vaccine or those who the vaccine didn't take on (there is a slight margin of error with vaccines, they're not infallible). That's why the ideological stance against vaccinating kids without any medical justification is so dangerous. It's also why I'm so militant on the subject, regardless of whether or not I make a parent cry.
