I was called selfish the other day because i won't conform to people's supposed norm and yeah i do get some strange looks like i have an extra ear growing from my forehead when i'm asked for my mobile number and say i don't have one.

Another thing. certain events and circumstances have more or less turned me into a recluse who only ever really associates with people at work because I have to

Same here. Too many friends who've turned out to be *******s who I should never have associated with in the first place. Now I prefer solitude in a way that I never did a few years ago cause I thought I was supposed to be more social.

Likewise. I could change the scenery a hundred times and still the people I work with would never be my friends.

I've learned this many times. I've moved a lot, and I've changed the scenery a lot, and everyone I've ever met has walked out of my life like I never existed. A lot of the people who have "friended" me on facebook actually know me, but I only really talk to people I've never met before but have more in common than most people I already know.

And these people I actually know - people I've gone to school with, that I've worked with, friends of friends - they never bother to ask how I'm doing. I don't exist to them. It's easier to have acquaintances; I've never really called many people my "friend" because the connotations are too emotional and I don't need to get caught up in that, knowing they'll leave eventually.

Your story reads much like mine....Sure people "friend" me on FB, but i'm beginning to think it's only so they can see where i'm at in life...Not that there's a lot to see

Just more gossip fuel for the hordes of idiots who haven't grown up since high school.
