I'd assume it's because they have to turn off the freezers at night and don't want a bunch of water everywhere when they come back in the morning?

I can understand at the end of the night, but I doubt that ice lasts in the trough all through the night, through the next day, and to the end of the upcoming end-of-night.

If so, that's some hard core ice.

I don't think it's that the ice spoils or something (though ice does bond into big chunks and get shitttier the longer it's around). I think they need to clean out the ice chests on a regular basis and they need to empty them out to clean them.

Not sure how a urinal is more convenient than a sink either.

Maybe they secretly put it in there to increase aim amongst drunken men.

These aren't urinals... it's one long [usually] metal trough with a drain. Everyone pees together.
