I am not some environmental soapbox dweller preaching to all and don't want to be either but I also see our blinkered ignorance in our role on the planet and it annoys me.

Anyone who doesn't recycle is immediately on my hit list. It is just pure laziness.

I am digressing a little here but if anyone thinks that we are an altruistic species then they need their heads examined.

I definately don't think humans are perfect, far from it, if that's what you mean. I just try to always see things in a more positive light, that's all.

I would like to as well and in the microcosm of human life, we are generally a decent bunch.

As the carers of the planet and other species? We are a slothful, greedy and ignorant bunch of carers.

not in recent years, we have been trying to push to become more "green" there are a lot of green jobs being made and even careers opening up. I know what you mean as a whole and it is an uphill battle compared to our past but I feel like we are trying to head into the right direction.

To be fair, is the lion killing the zebra, any different than us drilling for oil from a personal level? Is it thinking any less selfishly?

Yes, it is different. Food is essential to its survival, we as a human race have made oil an essential to life. It's not REALLY that necessary.

Phenomena like this are what first popped up in my head when reading the threadstart: The Zeitgeist Movement

This has to be one of the stupidest things I've read in a long time.

Over auto-correct. Christ.

But my point is that the lion does not care about the zebra. She does not think, "God I wish I didn't have to kill this dude". She just does it. She probably gets off on it too. Lions learn to hunt as cubs by playing. They play cause it's fun. So they probably think that it's fun to murder a zebra. My point is that as animals we didn't just decide randomly to be selfish *******s who only think about themselves and the rest of the human race. All animals are selfish *******s who only think about themselves and the rest of their race. It's how they survive.

I agree, people try to give animals more credit than they should get when they essential practice the same survival of the fittest thing that we do.
