Is Man Inherently evil? (dance, hardcore, Religious, quote)

the point is, is it "inherent", and i think it is seeing as it is our natural instincts.

yeah, but that's the problem I pointed out in my first post. It's impossible to label the entirety of our nature as good or evil, because our motives, emotions, and reasons are too complex to be lumped under one label. Maybe that argument could have been valid centuries ago, when our only purpose in life was to survive and reproduce, but we've evoloved as a society, and because of that, the standards by which we judge oursleves has to evolve as well. Our lives, emotions, and our instincts have become much more complex, so the simple black and white labels of good and evil just aren't adequate anymore.

this is a bitch. anything said is a blanket statement and basically generalising. everybody has a different opinion of evil. to some i am evil as i am not religious. to others i am evil because i use paper, or animal products.
i do however agree with jib, it is our inhibitions, not our temptations that decrees our worth.
emochick your opponent is obviously going to call upon history, no doubt hitler, for his arguments. id suggest in studying up on this to counteract him.
i do not really use or trust the word evil, id say man as a race is selfish moreso than anything.

i get your point and it is a very complex topic. but im saying if you look at it in its most basic form, the fact we have to actually repress these "evil" urges surely means our good behaviour isnt necessarily our natural behaviour. it would be a lot easier to be "evil" but we do not because we have a conscience. im basically repeating the same thing over and over again...i'll stop.

Update on my debate: He kicked my ****ing ass! He came up with the best arguments ever and i was jsut speechless. My teacher was like "Wow, Ally for once you have nothing to say." hahah. It was weird but the "judge" ended up siding with me (and my friend) even though we really sucked. Honestly i think it was cause he likes her. Meh at least i got good marks =)

I agree with Waynegrow...Who isn't evil though, I mean come on. I was watching something on exorcisms and the priest said the kid that was 'possessed' called him a fat ass, now honestly...if "satans" best put downs are things such as "fat ass " then I have now dubbed myself better than satan himself.

Still evil though, of course, after all I'm only human
