I was in the Navy and no they didn't lol.

If I was a SEAL then sure but I was just a regular sailor that barely knows how to swim and was able to pass my swim test by back floating around the pool in a U shape.

Just did some googling - had thought the marines and the navy were effectively the same branch. Evidently not! tbh though, if it takes you as much time to realise you can't breathe as it does to pass out, there's something wrong :P

I was a bit caught up in the moment and the only way to get her attention of her wild screaming was to pinch her super hard. She didn't like that but I was able to breathe lol

The Navy pays the Marines and they do work closely together. There are ships dedicated to transporting Marines. I was supposed to be stationed on one but that never happened. I'm glad though. I ****ing hate Marines. They are upset that we pay them and they fall under our umbrella and so they decide to insult/make fun of us for not being out in the field and just staying in the water while they do all of the "work". The Navy is basically transportation for them.

I used to make a joke saying that the Navy is just the Taxicab for the Military

no but I trained to be a lifeguard

i used to dive deep down into the bottom of a 20-feet pool and sit there for 10 mins - it was very Zen

They wanted us to do something similar in boot for the SEAL training. I was like let me get the hell out of here. I'm a horrible swimmer.

They wanted us to also get some weights that were at the bottom of the pool and other exercises.
