Rest in peace buddy.

I spent every night with you lying next to you for longer then I care to remember. Now you're gone and I don't have a smiling face to greet me when I get home. I'm sorry bud. You were in so much pain though, I had too... I had too. I just hope you met your brother in heaven and are running through green pastures both of you finally pain free. I love you buddy.

Horrible thing to have to do man. Just take comfort that he's no longer in pain and in some way loved you for ending his pain. I've had to do this for three cats (so far) and one dog, and it never is easy. Nor should it be. I'm sure he's wagging his tail now at you from Doggy Heaven.
