Really fun night though.

That was funny as shit.

Guybrush 04-11-2011 11:57 PM

Who banned you guys?

Key 04-11-2011 11:59 PM

Not sure. I don't think there were any mods there at the time. We were constantly changing our names to act as other people, and suddenly we just got banned.

Then you probably got a server ban. Let's hope it was temporary. There are some rules on the server as there is on any server.

You may have accidentally broken a no flooding rule? Flooding is a way of disconnecting other users and crashing servers. It's done by sending simply a lot of data to the IRC server, such as by pasting nonsense lines very fast or changing your nick a lot very fast. It was effective back in the days when internet connections were ****, but it's generally not as effective nowadays. Still, IRC servers tend to be a bit old school about flooding rules.

Hopefully, any server ban is just temporary. At least I can connect just fine with my browser client.

Key 04-12-2011 12:13 AM

Oh yeah, it was like a 30 minute ban. I've been able to get in all night just fine. That's good to know though, guess we'll have to die down on the nick changing, as funny as it is.

This is likely what happened .. Maybe I should make a disclaimer in the first post asking people not to spam nick changes :p:
