I watched Asian Idol before and I was very disappointed with the results actually. I was expecting either Jacklyn Victor (Malaysian), Mike Mohede (Indonesian) or Mau Marcelo (Philippines) would win. but I guess they ain't gonna vote for you if you don't have the looks.

In fact, from Wiki, here's a quote from the judges reaction:

the fat girl was from our country. we make sure that we send the ones with belting capability. and we know that most fat singers have the upper hand as far as vocal range is concern.
