I haven't visit either, (but I'd visit Canada a few times). But if it came down to seeing the places mentioned in films, it would be

Nova Scotia:New Zealand::Anne of Green Gables:Lord of the Rings

I would have to go with New Zealand

Anne of Green Gables doesn't take place in Nova Scotia, it's takes place on Prince Edward Island.

what in the hell? Why are so people making threads that are "Compare random place A to Random place B". First New York vs Toronto, now Nova Scotia vs New Zealand...

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God

Well, I understand New York and Toronto, but not really Nova Scotia and New Zealand.

I think I got the plot mixed up with the film location.

I don't think so, there's no active fault lines there. They do get hurricanes though, through about August to October (so end of summer - early fall). Most of them are the tail end of hurricanes that work their way up the Atlantic coast from Florida. They've had some pretty bad ones though too.
