Sure, it might not be financially easy to just pick up and leave but if the property you were living in was destroyed then those childhood memories are pretty much gone but I guess people don't like change so it would be hard for them to move.


It's really no different in a way to those who live in the tornado prone areas in America. They get them every year and they know this yet they rebuild again and again.

Thing is with us here in Christchurch we don't know when we're going to have another.................they could stop next week for all we know

I don't know how those people do it either, living in tornado alley or the people that live in florida when they know every year hurricane season is going to roll around and destroy things in their area.

Why do you think I left after the February quake? I psychologically could not handle it anymore. Stupid pioneers for building on sand. I love Christchurch and want to go back, but there's nothing but turmoil and destruction left there.

I thought you left because your house was rooted

Truth is it doesn't matter where you run to in this country the likely hood of the same thing happening elsewhere is very high so the only way to escape the inevitable is to leave NZ
