My grandfathers name is Donald.

[MERIT] 06-21-2011 12:04 AM

Luke, I AM your (grand)father!

If the internet tells me that I'm the ruler of the world, who am I to disagree?

Yeah.

There's no citations in my world. Anything goes (Until I get tired of it and obliterate the universe) :)

My grandad's name is Donald. But he's Welsh, so I seriously doubt any Englishman could take him seriously as a ruler.

[MERIT] 06-21-2011 12:29 PM

I'm like Sir William Wallace in Braveheart, minus the crazy Mel Gibson attributes.

You do realise the English hung him to the verge of unconsciousness, cut him down, removed his intestines while conscious, then castrated him and fried his genitals on a hot plate, before cutting his head off and dividing his body into four parts where they were then sent to the four corners of the kingdom and put on display to the public?
Just saying...

Mykonos 06-21-2011 01:17 PM

Hey, I just remembered that my first name means king. I might just have to overthrow you and replace you with an autocracy Donaldo.

That does seem a bit excessive. Mel Gibson is a terrible person, we can all agree... but to go that far?

I'd well pick dreadnaught and anticipation to roll for me. They're renound stoners.

First fucking name? I thought you were serious about geneaology when I opened this thread. It's a discipline that I really enjoy/respect.

I'm true Scots-Irish (well 50%, my father's side) and I expected a lot more from this thread than some Donald Duck shit. Unless you have a relevant surname why did you bother?

Haha, yeah a first name might be worth something. I really don't even know - we Scots-Irish take what we can get.

What about the historical significance of hot plates? That has been briefly discussed, without conclusion I might add.

Interesting. Which side of your family is a hot plate?

No need to get pissy and bemused, My first and last names are just as "relevant" as anyone else's. If you want to read a thread about the meaning behind surnames then start one.

I totally agree. And, no, I'm not bemused by first names - they're anything that are found amusing by the namer. But, since you brought it up, what's the relevance of ("meaning behind") your first name, Donald?

Further, why does your first name interest/amuse you?

FETCHER. 06-22-2011 06:09 AM

Engine, what's your surname if you don't mind me asking?

Engine is his surname. His first name is Thomas, middle name The Tank.

FETCHER. 06-22-2011 06:16 AM

Liar. Engine isn't Scottish.

Bloozcrooz 06-22-2011 06:18 AM

Engines cant be Scottish...he's from Texas...wait ;)

FETCHER. 06-22-2011 06:23 AM

Btw, Oojay. Clans go on your surname, not your forename :(.

The meaning of "Donald" is the same, whether it be your first name or you last name. It still means "Ruler Of The World" or "Great Chief."

My middle name means "Well-Born" or "Noble."

My last name means "Long Hill" or "Great Hill."

Mykonos 06-22-2011 02:46 PM

Well, it clearly means you're the almighty ruler of a very noble hill then.

So is your name Daniel Gordon or Daniel Grossenberg? (you don't have to answer that)

Engine 06-22-2011 10:44 PM

Aurora, it's not that I don't trust each of you impeccably but I don't feel comfortable posting my surname. My father's ancestors are from Scotland and ended up in the British colonies (currently known as the United States of America) in the mid 18th century - like these people.

Also, oojay, I sincerely apologize for acting like such a dick. I was way too hammered to be using a computer when I posted that stuff.

None of the above, but understandably I'm not going to post my full name out on a web forum

You guys should look up your names' meanings.
