Ghosts/dopplegangers/faeries/vampires etc etc

ok, theres a thread on reincarnation, so i was wondering, do you believe in anything paranormal? anything outside the box or supernatural. personally, im a firm believer in ghosts, partly because i saw one as a child and partly because of my general outlook on life. i believe there is a parallel existence between the living and dead, they are all with us, but we are oblivious to this other plain due to our hectic lifestyles and general chaotic/built up environments. at certain times in the right conditions it is possible to interact, we all possess the abilities its just using them thats difficult. of course there is no proof of this, its just my opinions and beliefs. yours? (if you think its all a load of bollocks, say why)

hookers with machineguns 04-21-2005 12:36 PM

It's not that I believe or disbelieve in the paranormal, I just don't think it's "relevant" at this point in my life. To sum up this and the reincarnation issue, I'm too concerned about living to contemplate what happens when I die.

Sneer 04-21-2005 12:47 PM

i find it comforting to think theres something deeper out there, that we're just a small piece of a much larger jigsaw.

Anarchy doll 04-21-2005 08:11 PM

oh for sure, there are most definately other worlds out there and other species...
and there are ghosts too, but I don't think they have unfinished buisness or here to scare us and get revenge or nothing...I just don't think they know they are dead yet.
and imagine how frustrating that would be?
Vampires, there is something I have alwas been interested in more discussion about.

blackTshirt 04-22-2005 01:53 AM

well i heard that scientists always find a plausible explanation for everything we call "paranormal". like vampires... people in the middle ages (in the past, anyway) called people that were suffering of porphyria vampires.
or ghosts... LedZep said he saw one.. tell me about it, i'm really curious cause i dunno what to think.. my sister is convinced that we have a ghost in our house. and she's the older one.. i never thought they were real (maybe when i was little) but i can't say they're just made up stories cause i'm not sure of that either...

dog 04-22-2005 05:40 AM

i don believe in anythn like that, when you die, youre dead, you rot in the ground and get eaten by bugs, you don get up. i like watching those little ghost clips tho, fun stuff.

it was actually in these really old, delapidated public toilets on a caravan site while i was on holiday..about 9 years ago. they were quite scary to look at but me and these little guys i met there decided to go in and have a piss because we thought it would be really funny (dont ask). was really gloomy and shadowy inside, plasters crumbling of all of the walls, and as ive gone into a cubicle ive seen like a very strange mist in the rough form of a human just standing in the centre, with two huge black holes on what i assumed was its head. it started coming towards me so as you can probably guess, i legged it. never went back. and i can assure you thats 100% true. i dont believe in vampires though i like the idea of them.

ladyluckrules 04-22-2005 02:26 PM

One thing that freaks me out is that all the time i get really strong deja-vu that i remember from dreams, today i had a really strong feeling i'd been through the entire situation and remembered what everyone was going to say next.

Anarchy doll 04-22-2005 02:54 PM

I get that all the time...and I dream things and then they happen ECACT to ewhat I dreamed! People say, "oh, that's just de-ga-vu....."
and I say, "then explain what de-ge-vu really is huh?"

that story freaked me the hell out for some reason. I don't know if i believe in that stuff or not, like ghosts or any other creatures, but i still can't watch those shows on tv they have about any of it without turning all the lights on and having someone else in the room with me :(

Trauma 04-22-2005 09:00 PM

Well once I thought I saw a witch coming to kill me when I was six but later found out it was my mother's boyfriend trying to scare me out of the bathroom at 4:00 in the morning.
Next, I see a disco-like array of white lights all the time for some reason but it's probably nothing.
Finally, I don't even believe any of this really exists. This is all bullocks (not the thread) because I mean it's weird. If you think about it we don't even really have a soul. It's just several organs that work together so we can live, feel, and think.

Kurt_Cobain 04-23-2005 06:14 AM

I guess my faith kinda forces me to believe in the paranormal. Being a christian, believing in the ultimate good and the ultimate evil, I strongly believe in the paranormal. Life isn't full of justice, thats why I refuse to believe that when a sinner dies they get away with their crimes.
I think we all believe in God wether we like it or not. I bet some of the people in the 9/11 planes didnt believe in God, but I bet they prayed to him. So if we believe in God, we believe in heaven, and if there is heaven there must be a hell and ghosts and demoons. Demons were actually angels that waged war on God and were thrown from Heaven, and I know people like to believe in angels so their must be demons.

pastor of muppets 04-23-2005 06:14 AM

I reckon that all the paranormal things that we think exist are just stuff we make up to explain things that happen to us. Like the greeks made up gods n sh!t to explain why the sun moved across the sky and stuff. I think eventually we will be able to explain all these things in one way or another but we need something to believe so that we can explain why it happens 'cos if we can't explain it then it's scary.

This stuff freaks me out... Im sure I sound really pathetic by saying that, but it does. Ghosts and stuff just scare me, even though Im not sure if I believe in them or not. I dont believe in vampires though. I used to, when I was a kid, cause my Dad used to deliberatly scare me. It actually messed me up pretty bad back then, I had to sleep with a pillow over my neck...

ladyluckrules 04-23-2005 04:07 PM

hah, when i was smaller i used to believe there was something evil underneath my bed and in the cupboards, i always left the bedroom door open so that i could be able to run out and scream !

ArtistInTheAmbulance 04-23-2005 04:12 PM

^YES! And I always had to make sure that there was nothing in my way between my bed and the door, and then between my door and my mums door. I was a really paranoid kid, I kept three torches by my pillow (incase one ran out), a glass of water incase a vampire came in (I prayed on it, so that made it holy water in my mind) and I always ate garlic bread before I went to bed. I hated garlic sooo much back then, but thats how scared I was.

.angie. 04-23-2005 04:52 PM

^oh my god. i was scared of a tree outside of my window. and when it rained at night i thought there was a mud man that was going to come in my window and kill me..

ladyluckrules 04-23-2005 04:57 PM

i'm so paranoid of my windows, they're really big and looking right out into a courtyard and some fields, it's feels like someones watching me !

stonedpath 04-23-2005 04:57 PM

I am scared of little people that yell at me for no reason.

ladyluckrules 04-23-2005 05:01 PM

what are you going to do if you have children

.angie. 04-23-2005 05:06 PM

windows are creepy. but then again, if i had no windows i would feel as if the walls of the room would just shrink and the room would get smaller and smaller.

jesus 04-23-2005 05:36 PM

I tend to stay away from closets.

Sneer 04-23-2005 06:36 PM

when i was younger, i had a thing about curtains. if they didnt completely cover my window id feel asif somebody was watching me from outside. i had a "dream" once, i heard soft murmuring from my back garden (my bedroom overlooks the back garden) saying "stuart, come here". it was so realistic i couldnt sleep without my radio on for a year.

.angie. 04-23-2005 07:54 PM

^yeah, i had weird dreams sorta like that.

Sneer 04-23-2005 07:59 PM

though the scariest dream ive ever had was waking up in the middle of the night, going to open muy window cos its hot and seeing a womenn just staring at me through the window. (bearing in mind my bedrooms upstairs).

.angie. 04-23-2005 08:05 PM

dreams are weird. i dont understand how it works.

Sneer 04-23-2005 08:23 PM

That really scared me for some reason... I think my scariest dreams are when Im being chased by a lorry or a bus. I have those a lot, but theyre so scary every time I get them. *Shudder* I hate lorries...

blackTshirt 04-24-2005 02:28 AM

my scariest one must one of those i used to have as a kid. they were all the same.. as in.. they were like a movie.. in my head. there was a flying man dressed in black (like that guy from "sailor moon") and he always took me away. i liked him..i wanted to go with him in a way, but i was so scared.. and he always took me from a building that had no walls on the outside

i'm so scared of those things, and i have no idea why... and ever since watching poltergeist i won't go near a clown, or watch anything clown orientated.
when i was younger i used to have a reoccuring nightmare about being in random places and having this young, black haired woman pop up and start wispering my name in an evil way, then her eyes would turn red and she'd start screaming... man that was scary...

Sneer 04-24-2005 10:15 AM

ive never had a fear of china dolls in my life. im a guy so their of no relevance to me..but this was quite scary.
