What would you do?

Guys!.. I am really in a "pickle" at the moment.

I am currently a member of a Classic Rock cover band, but I have an offer to sing for an Alternative Rock band. (What Do I Do)!

Its like..I love covering the Stones, and all of the classic rock from the 70s & 80s. But on the other hand I love the alternative rock from the 90s, and on just as much.

What would you do?

I voted for 90's+Alternative, but I really think you should just forego the cover bands and write your own music.

I actually find more excitement and personal satisfaction doing the 90s Alternative I admit myself, but the Classic 70 & 80s also provides the opportunity to cover contemporary artist and different styles of music, its a much more versatile route musically (with this particular band).

I really have no desire to write and record my own music at the time. Ive always knew if I did decide to write my own material, I would rather do it as a band instead of, as a single writer/artist. I would maybe want to write with a band for at least a year, and see what kind of personality would develop musically before I would decide on which way and direction the lyrics should go with the music.

Ive always known that I have the ability to create my own music and lyrics, but I prefer to keep that personal and don't really care about sharing it with anyone else, however that may sound. Just knowing..(which might sound strange)..is enough. I'm just not ready to share nor do care to write my own material. If that makes any sense?

I just want to keep it FUN! as a hobby playing in a cover band..nothing really serious.

When I have a decision like this to make between two choices that I love. I make it easy on myself and just flip a coin.

Ive tried that before, playing for two different bands at the same time. But it never really seemed to work out for the best, sooner or later there will be conflicting dates where both bands are scheduled to play the same night at different places so..

And the musicians in both bands are orientated into they're own styles, era, and genres of preference. For example, the guitar player and drummer in the classic rock band don't like alternative rock so they're heart (and style of playing) is just not into it. And vice-versa with the alternative band (except they are willing to do some classic rock).

Besides, being in two bands can take all the fun out of it. If Ive learned anything about being a musician through the years is there is nothing worse than being/becoming a "frustrated musician". It has to be/stay FUN!

I'd simply say, whichever you think you will find the most enjoyment in.

You obviously favour the Alternative band, or you wouldn't even have to be faced with this choice.

I actually like the sound of that Paloma, learning to play the keyboards is kinda out of the question, at this point anyway.

But I love the new wave suggestion, I would like to cover some of the 80s classic new wave. Tears For Fears, The Cure..hell!..I would be willing to cover some material by A Flock Of Seagulls (seriously). I was never very bias when it came to liking different genres of music and styles.
