Happy Christmas, right-track!

Paedantic Basterd 12-24-2011 01:37 PM

Merry ho-ho, folks.

Freebase Dali 12-24-2011 01:56 PM

This is a particularly cool Christmas for me, as I'll be hosting my very first Christmas dinner for the family at my place. And, as tradition would not really have it, I'll be making a jambalaya, crab & corn bisque, gumbo, homemade rolls, and some kicking little cocktail shrimps.

Chef Freebase wishes you all a merry Christmas.

That sounds very exotic. I haven't even heard of some of those!

Same here. The Americans seem to absorb all the very best of Europe, while we're all too busy being insular.

True. I don't know how many generations of my family have suffered duck and sprouts on every Christmas.
Sorry, I'm being a Scrooge again!

Paedantic Basterd 12-24-2011 02:06 PM

It's classic southern.

I'm going to take this opportunity to call you a dirty south mofo.

Merry Christmas.

Freebase Dali 12-24-2011 02:08 PM

Jambalaya, gumbo, and pretty much anything with crab is pretty standard in Louisiana, but most of the folks I know do a traditional Christmas dinner that most people are used to.
I had a traditional Thanksgiving, so I really wanted to switch it up.

Merry Christmas, brosky.

Up here, a snowstorm came just in time for Christmas, while the day before it was all brown and gray... that can only be good.

Merry Christmas everybody!

Goofle 12-24-2011 02:14 PM

Hope it goes well!

I doubt there's anything "classically southern" other than Kentucky fried chicken?

I love having a time zone ahead of everyone else. :D

Mykonos 12-24-2011 03:43 PM

Wow that is a girly setup you've got there.

1 hour and 20 minutes to go. Damn this temporary insomnia...

Merry Christmas everyone! In just a few hours I'll finally have my own computer that probably won't work!

Oh fuck being English!!!!

Apparently my main present will be a new pair of shoes. I dig the toy story, by the way!

Burning Down 12-24-2011 03:45 PM

And I'm Jewish, so Happy Hanukkah to any other Jewish members here!

Happy "scrutinize the technical birthdate of Jesus Christ, and proclaim the holiday is stolen from the Romans, stolen from the Pagans, but rubbing the fact that it's a day to indulge in commercial pacification in people's faces" day to my fellow Atheists!

Honestly not doing much for the Holiday, but I've always looked forward to this time of year. Lots of memories, and a bit of time with the family I guess.

Necromancer 12-24-2011 04:03 PM

Bah Humbug:mad:

(just kidding) Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all.

I'm pretty doubtful that many people here actually give a damn about the 2 weeks after predicted birthdate of Jesus. I just like Christmas for the presents.

Lisnaholic 12-24-2011 04:35 PM

Congrats to Vanilla for such a collection of pink presents and to Freebase for hosting the family celebrations for the first time.

In about six hours I`ll be celebrating Christmas according to local custom: a big family meal at 10:30 pm on the 24th, after which, at the stroke of midnight, we`ll be swapping presents and this old-timer will be wishing he could get home to bed.

Anyway, I hope all you MB companions, who have kept me entertained throughout the year, have a good time in your various ways - but come back to the threads soon !
