It would be if I still bothered with PCs but its just another reason why I prefer Macs. Also, because the inner workings of computers interest me so little I usually just plain forget all about stuff like AV software.

I'm the same way cars and household appliances and such. I just want them to work, I don't care much how they work, and I hate trying to fix them when they break.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Macs are inherently better than PCs and I can certainly appreciate the hatred that people have for the user constraints that Apple embeds in all their products. If I was into DIY computer tech, I'm sure I wouldn't spend the extra money on Apple but I'm just not. Call me lazy or stupid but I want my hardware to do what I want when I want without having to know or even care how it does it.

Luckily, I set my iPod to shuffle albums. It may be a big shuffle, but at least its not random songs. It's definitely testing how well I know my music collection. I guess I'm also listening to stuff I've been passing over for a while now. The Comsat Angels just came on...I don't think I would have listened to them otherwise.

Yay, silver lining I guess...

I don't understand this love for smartphones, at all. They seem to be less nerd *****s than means to maintaining addiction to idiotic "social networking" sites, e-mail, etc. I really don't understand this; it seems less about being extroverted and more about being an attention whore.

Anyways, **** iPods. I was an earlier adopted of MP3 players, and earlier iPods had some of the most idiotic restrictions on what you could/couldn't do with your device. The example that sent me through the roof: you couldn't use it as an external hard drive.

Smartphones are stupid. How ironic. Guess Stupidphones wouldn't have been good advertising but there it is. People get all excited "Oh look, now there's this program that I can do such and such that my computer already does, and it only cost $whatever amount of money." Great.

Smartphones aren't made for nerds. It's obvious they're made for technologically challenged folks, that gives them ease of access to tech-related stuff. I dunno.

I can tell you, though, that I hate this whole "apps" nonsense. "Cool I got the facebook app", but can't do the majority of the functions that could be done on a computer. Apps are program and website LITE versions. I can't stand that. So this expensive ass device and this app can't handle intermediate-expert functions? Hardly and customization either.

And the games ... don't get me started on the games. From what I've seen, most Super Nintendo games beat smartphone games hard. I mean, come on. Is it that the smartphone game developers suck or is it that turning flash advertisements into games and selling them is easier? Swear I've played better games in banner advertisements than you can find for a smartphone.

And all this, I know, from having a room mate with one.

And a huge monthly service fee? More than one fee? Forget it. What a joke. No wonder they're making money hand over fist. People don't care the cost, it's trendy to have it.

It's not trendy to have genuinely useful features like GPS, alarm clock, mp3 player, weather, TV guide, internet browser, camera, etc. It's even a functioning phone! As for Facebook, I can do everything I want on my Facebook app. I can write and comment on statuses, I can make group posts, I can do private messaging, I can embed YouTube links and photos in posts, etc. I'm not missing... anything really.

I find it has become very hipster to rebel against smartphones. Damn, if you don't like it don't use it. That's why they sell pay as you go phones. It's not out to personally offend you.

Exactly. They're just... there. I don't see how they could invoke such a strong reaction. I personally see them as a marvel; innumerable features all in one small device that can fit in your pocket. I can't wait to see where we go next.
