The difference being it was in Vancouver, a city known for having a very substantial hard drug problem. Some guy beating on a city bus (on a street that has the dubious reputation of being one of the worse in Canada) in the middle of the summer because others didn't act like a cab towards him is a worthy concern. Yes, the police could have waited for the next time he did something stupid, but that next stupid thing might have been to assault someone's mother. Your mother.

Then what?

Then you've got the family and neighborhood (and the rest of the internet) all screaming about where was the police to stop this person before they did something so horrible. Then they find out that person got left to wander after a previous public display of physical violence and complete lack of self control? It's not like they didn't try everything else first. The article specifies they'd chased the guy into an alley, and he still refused to cooperate. At that point, where they don't know just who or what is waiting in the alley with him and his refusal to cooperate or calm down the situation becomes risky enough to merit using the dog to take down the suspect in my eyes.

My point is that there could have been a million reasons why they didn't taze him. He could have been out of range. He could have been outrunning the cop. It may be unfeasible to hold a dog and use a tazer.

Why does it make more sense? They should let a potentially dangerous suspect who had just attacked a bus for no apparent reason get away and possibly hurt someone when they have a legitimate means of stopping him?

All I have to say to any of that angry bs is this: the police are not in place to protect people. They are there to uphold the law. Besides, I bet if there was some ******* going crazy on me in the park while I'm walking my dog and I had my .45 they'd rather I shot him than sic my bulldog on 'em. In fact they'd most likely make me put the dog down if it did.

They have a gun, a tazer, club, cuffs, maglight, and dog. Which seriously makes more sense to take somebody down with?:bonkhead: You cry about the cop being at risk they signed up for the ****!! What about putting the dog at risk? The cop is wearing body armor and knows what a gun is-the dog is naked and knows what his ass taste like. The man gets paid, the dog gets a biscut. Top it off, as far as I'm concerned not being able to catch him ain't an excuse for anything but going to the gym.

Why is anyone arguing in favor of this dude? The cops warned him that they would let the dogs out if he didn't stop, and he didn't stop. On top of that, he resisted when the dog had him. Police dogs are well trained, they didn't **** up his leg like that for no good reason.

Um...okay. This statement is supposed to prove what exactly?

I have no idea whatsoever why you would think that. If you have no real argument to make, just admit it and quit spouting pointless bull****.

The non-lethal one which offers the least amount of risk. The tazer may be a better choice depending on the situation, but I don't see how the dog was an unreasonable choice in this case.

So are you saying that you're a vegan now? I'm all for animal rights, but I still value a human (or for that matter a sentient extraterrestrial or artificial intelligence) life more than a dog's life the same way I'd value a dog's life over an earthworm's. I'm sure you do too, so I don't know why you're using this argument.

Please. It looks to me like you just hate cops and look for any excuse to bitch about them.

I don't think that's embarrasing they should be able to call off their dog when it's immobilized the suspect, not ripped his ****ing leg off. I hope he gets the money, cos that's just ****ing incompetent police.

I'm sorry your hate for the police is making you incapable of having an objective discussion on a matter not involving your personal experiences with law enforcement in another nation operating under different laws and social expectations.

It's a dog, not an RC car.
