Which Playstation is your Favorite?
My favorite is the PS2 simply because you can still get all these amazing games on it. It's a decent price. Its generally a really good console.
What about you guys? |
Yeah ps2 was probably the best one the first was pretty tight and the 3rd has blue ray but neither comes close to the catalogue of the ps2
|
don't have a PS3, but the games i've played has been uninspiring thus far
so PS2 for me as well |
Dreamcast; crazy taxi, chu chu rocket, virtual on the oratorio tangram (VO:OT), jet grind radio, etc. Shenmue was horrible, however; "....I'm looking for the men who killed my father." Nothing like running around having to open every_****ing_drawer_in_a_dresser_individually_.
These other playstations are for women. |

It's very hard for me to choose between PS1/PS2. On the one hand, PS1 has the distinction of being my first gaming console and has a special place in my heart. But in terms of overall game library, including variety of genres represented and number of good games, the PS2 probably edges it. I still think PS1 may be my own personal favorite, but PS2 is probably the objectively better console. |
Obviously the best console is the latest one.
|
PS2 has the best games. I have some great PS1 memories and PS3 is good but I prefer Xbox.

PS2 for me. I think it was further ahead of its competitors relative to the first PS and PS3. I much preferred N64 and, although I prefer PS3, Xbox 360 is pretty much equal, I'd say. PS2 stood out above the others IMO. Great selection of games.
|
PS2. With the death of my 3rd xbox 360 I went and traded all my 360 games for store credit and bought a lot of my old favourites. The PS2 had great 3rd party support with developers and an absolutely massive library. I briefly owned a PS3 and I quite enjoyed it, Infamous and Heavy Rain were fun exclusive titles, although I didn't like the R2 L2 redesign.

remember the part when you got to use the forklift to move boxes around in a warehouse? great game no doubt |

No I agree, i was kidding about the forklift part, it was very tedious.
In terms of narrative presentation it was pretty ahead of its time though |

haven't played Shenmue the Dreamcast wasn't really popular at all here and only specialty shops had the console and the games |

Grand Theft Auto is another example that comes to mind. GTA IV is the most refined one... and the least fun. Also, I couldn't care less about graphics, a good story wins every time. |

Edit: I almost missed MGS somehow, I love that series. I just hate FPS games. |

Do you play FIFA online Fred?
And I am generally with Tuna regarding the kind of games I enjoy, other than the fact that I enjoy the HD aspect and far superior game engines. (also apologise for being a d*ck on the other thread, was a slight tad hung over) |
I'm surprised I seem to be the only one judging them by how good they were for their time.
I don't even factor in nostalgia when looking at PS2. Nostalgia for video games to me is N64 and Sega Genesis |

For it's time, PS2 is undoubtedly the best, if only for how far ahead of the gamecube and xbox it was. |
Quote:
Agree with the PS2 being far ahead though. I thought Gamecube was a bit underrated though. |
The Gamecube was great for me. Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, a good Mario Cart game and quite a few other gems.
Sega Saturn gets my nostalgic feelings going. |
The Gamecube's controller may have actually been worse than the N64s.

I'm a metalhead, I don't care about storylines. |
Nothing is worse than the N64's controller. Jeez.
|
the original xbox controller was pretty gnarly, shit was almost as big as my damn head

I liked the original X-Box controller; it was gigantic, but it was very comfortable. It made marathon gaming sessions a breeze. The black/white buttons weren't the most conveniently located, but it was better than the revised controller wherein you had to use your thumb joint... backwards.
|
The N64 controller was great. You just had to play it for hours on end each day to get used to it.

I've only ever had playstations. I was a kid when the first one came out and played crash bandicoot, medievel, spyro, and eventually talked teh momz into letting me play parasite eve 1 and 2- rated M for MATURE. Felt like a badass and bragged about it all the damn time in oh.... 2nd grade?
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PARASITE EVE. If you haven't played it and are a fan of survival horror/RPGs, it's beyond awesome. I liked the second one a bit more because the boss battles were more intense and fun. And the combat is real time. I just started playing it again and it is still as good as it was like 15 years ago. Anywho, ps1 is very nostalgic and I like it the most for that reason. I agree with the consensus that the PS2 had a lot of great games but nostalgia > that. My experience with the PS3 has been underwhelming so far, but there's still a lot of games I wanna play when I can afford to buy some. 50$ for a video game is effin expensive. |

Oh and games are $60 now, PS1 and 2 games were $50 |
Nothing can top being the only kid in my class who had Duke Nukem 3D on my computer, everyone wanted to come over and see pixelated bewbs. My mum was okay with it too, in fact I think she got the game for herself but let me play it anyways because she had already let me play Doom
