We had more Dance music fans on here. Unless it's serious music it seems to get a raw deal on MB. There are some seriously good mixes out there; eclectic and unusual.

Anyone willing to listen to many of the Soulwax mixes will be surprised by the diversity and originality. They have introduced me to so many new bands.

Similar to JH, I wish there were more jazz fans here. I'm on a pretty big jazz kick at the moment and feel like I have no one to discuss this music with.

i listen to jazz a bit but only the "famous" albums

i don't really listen to the lesser-knowns or the obscure

edit:- well, if we're going that way, i wish there were more people to discuss Canto and Mando-Pop with, besides the occasional transient Chinese poster or starrynight

At the moment, I've been hooked on Portico Quartet's Isla (2009). It's a really interesting jazz album that incorporates a bit of post-minimalism into its music (which was what originally piqued my interest). It's also extremely catchy... Change of the Century by Ornette Coleman is also a recent listen... The bass lines are absolutely magnificent, and I feel that he really improved upon and polished up the ideas that were present in his previous album (The Shape of Jazz to Come).

What about you? I remembering seeing that you were looking into a Messenger's album recently. What was your impression of it?

Sounds cool. I'll have to check that out!

Yeah, you might have seen my post about The Witch Doctor, which is terrific. I've actually downloaded a whole bunch of their stuff recently, all of it good. My top picks of the bunch, aside from that one, would probably be Hard Bop, Art Blakey with the Original Jazz Messengers and 'S Make It.

Thanks, I'll look into those as well. I've been meaning to investigate their music a bit more, so here's my chance.
