I really did like the end with Yoda vs Count Dooku. Shows how ****ing badass Yoda is.

James Dewitt Yancey

Very few things have touched my life as greatly as his music has. His existence on this planet gave me hope for my own existence. Truly an amazing human being.

David Sedaris has an amazing way of presenting subtle, intelligent humor found in every day situations and slipping in stoic, profound statements on human nature in between jokes. He's one of my favorite writers, and one of my greatest inspirations in the writing I do.

Kind of in the same vein as David, Ira Glass is another of my favorite people. He is one of the greatest storytellers I've heard, and I think he deserves a lot of credit for keeping broadcast journalism alive in his wit and consistent innovation. If you don't know, Ira Glass is the creator of the program This American Life which broadcasts on NPR (and has been turned into a television show which is also great). If you haven't heard it or heard of it, I highly recommend you check it out.

As I mentioned in the Comedy Week thread, I love Bill Hicks for his abrasiveness, but also for his poetic tendencies and esotericism. He's the best kind of asshole.

All I can think of atm. Would surely have mentioned Kurt Vonnegut first and foremost but as he's already been claimed as a favorite I'll just have to agree with Exoskeletal. The rest of my favorite people are fictional. /cynicism.

I would mention him as a favorite if he wasn't so creepy.

some of my favourite people (in no particular order) -

Ron & Russell Mael

two of the most influential loves of my life; yes, they are musicians but they're also geniuses whose brilliance and unique view of the world changed mine for the absolute best. Without them I don't exactly know what the state of my mind would be, or if I would have ever come out of my darkest days.

Jim Henson

Jim had one of the most delightful minds this world has (and will ever have) seen. The things he created with this precious gift coloured my childhood. Learning about him as I grew older really warmed my heart. It truly saddens me that he wasn't able to live as long as possible, and that I never had a chance to meet him. Apart from his obvious contributions to entertainment and education, he was also a brilliant filmmaker and a true pioneer.

Gil Elvgren

One thing a lot of people don't know about me is that I love pin-up girls. Gil Elvgren is my favourite pin-up artist, with Alberto Vargas at a close second. His work has a soft and classy feel to it that other artists just don't seem to have. His girls are timeless beauties (and yes, I do have an Elvgren calendar in the kitchen).

Marc Bolan

Another musician, but one I admire greatly. Throughout his short window of fame (and, ultimately short life) he managed to bring so much pomp to the music business in the most adorable way possible. In some ways he was like a naive child, and in others he was wise beyond his years. That, and whenever I need a little ego boost, his sassy music is always there to save me.

My father

(No pics today.)

If I was a guy, I'd be just like my father. I take after him in my appearance (though obviously he can't sit on his hair like I can) and my demure nature. My dad is so cool, though. He's the reason I'm weird, offbeat, and not easily offended by anything. Though I don't always agree with him, he's easily one of the funniest people I know (and no matter what kind of stupid **** I get myself into, he never judges me or thinks any less of me).

The love of my life

(seen here with my evil cat, just after her bath)

You're looking at the most incredible human being I have ever met in my life. Everything he does is beautiful (especially the way he smiles, wraps his arms around me, laughs, and approaches animals) and he never fails to make me feel a whole lot better when things get really terrible. He's always there for me, and he's always sincere. He even tells me things I might not want to hear, because he knows how to make an impact and really get through to me.

I really can't say enough. Once he sees this he's probably going to flip, and it's going to be great.
