Bad habits or personality traits

I have a ridiculous, unapologetic, irrelevant and irrational hatred for practically everyone I meet until I find they have some sort of common ground with me or some sort of thing that makes them tolerable. I like a handful of people, but I've noticed that this mutual toleration usually begins with me learning something cool about them right off the bat.

I don't trust anyone apart from maybe 2-3 people in my life.

Most of my conversations with acquaintances or strangers are superficial, and I really don't care about anything they're talking about. I might eventually (if I like them enough) but most social exchanges are absolutely miserable.

I'm also very shy but it's gotten better over the course of my life.

I can relate to the trust thing as I too have trouble trusting, weird, as my trust has never been misplaced or compromised. I suspect it's down to some deep lying insecurity. Maybe my parents/relative/someone sexually abused me when I was very, very young, or maybe it's just me being a twat. Probably the latter. Alas...

I can count on one hand the number of people who have never deceived me or set out to hurt me for no good reason.

I close myself off to most people because I'm not playing their victim.

So you believe most people are out to get you? That's sad. But at least your mistrust is based on a logical perception of your reality. Mine's based on god only knows.

Yeah, I could have, but I'd said it already. I don't really believe in hiding the twatish part of my personality as it's an integral part of me. They say even the wisest of people are fools for 5 minutes a day, well I exceed that 5 minutes and I'm not afraid to admit it.

I don't believe that; it's just seemed to be a pretty constant trend amongst people I've actually let into my life.

I just see so much falseness in so many people; it just seems so difficult for people to be honest and actually care about others. I don't believe that just anyone is going to screw me over, but I don't take my chances either.

But it's by taking chances we find the ones who genuinely care, because they do exist. I ain't preaching, well, no, I am preaching, but more to myself than to you. Because the trouble with building walls is it stops not only the arseholes but also the sweethearts from reaching us.
