Smoking

Yeah, it's a nasty habit I know, but I'm addicted, what can I say? Nothing better than a cigarette and a pint of bitter. What's your brand? I roll my own tobacco because it saves me money and they've grown on me anyway.

The Batlord 06-26-2012 10:20 AM

I always liked Marlboro Reds, but I seem to be going off them in my old age. Newport Reds are pretty epic though. And of course it's gotta be a hundred. Anything else is just buying less cig for the same price.

LoathsomePete 06-26-2012 10:41 AM

When I was in the UK I liked silk cuts because they were really exotic to me and the name was appealing. As far as the actual tobacco was concerned... I'm not much of a connoisseur on the subject but I enjoyed the flavor. In Canada my preferred brand is Belmonts because they're strong enough (and expensive enough) to not want to chain smoke. Stateside I pretty much smoke whatever is available to me if and when I feel like having one. American Spirits are great in the summer because they last a long time, but come winter they can be a real nightmare. Generally I really only have one or two every few weeks now when I see my friends at game night and they smoke Camels so those are what I smoke.

Goofle 06-26-2012 10:47 AM

Lambert and Butler are usually the ones I go for. They are the only brand that keeps giving me a slight rush for every cigarette. I used to roll Amber Leaf, but I can't be arsed. Also, I ended up smoking more. I now buy three packs of 10 a week maximum, usually two.

It's kind of funny that you saw them as exotic, they're one of the most popular brands on this side of the pond! Then again if I was to go over to American I would find all your brands exotic and fascinating. Silk Cut aren't bad though, I used to smoke them for a period.

I usually stick to Marlboro Gold, I've tried quite a few different brands and I've always found myself going back to them for some reason. I managed to give up smoking for three whole weeks recently but the urge to have a cigarette just kept getting to me and I just gave in.

Made to feel like a social leper on a recent visit to Florida. I must know every designated smoking area in Disney World by now!
Does anyone in the U.S. still smoke?

I ran out of rolling tobacco and was forced out of sheer desperation to buy Marlboro brand ciggys. An set of bellows surgically fitted up my arse was needed just to get a decent drag!!! :(

This is something that's really getting to me lately. Yes we know that smoking is bad for your health, it's kind of obvious and it's been plastered in our faces countless times, but over the past few years the media seems to be trying to guilt trip smokers into thinking that they're the scum of the earth and also giving the wider public the same view. The media should only be allowed to go so far with this. Next thing they will be showing ads with smokers breathing fire at old people.

The shopkeeper i use to go to said I was the only person under the age of about 40 to ask for Silk Cuts, he told me they were a really popular brand in the late '80's and early '90's, but had fallen out of favor because of cheaper brands.

it could have been worse, you could have been in California where you'll be lynched for sparking up within 700 miles of a playground

I still know plenty of people who smoke them, although it could be a different story in the UK. It's mostly Marlboro, John Player, Benson & Hedges and Silk Cut here.

You're not kidding. Once while standing at one of those designated smoking areas, chatting and smoking with another hotel guest, we heard a loud and over dramatic voice coming from the path behind us..."there are people smoking, there are people smoking...kids come this way we'll go this way instead".
You'd have thought we were child molesters waiting to pounce on some unsuspecting kiddies!

Yeah it's absolutely ridiculous, apparently you can't smoke downtown in San Francisco anymore because of some zoning law that doesn't let you smoke within 25 feet of a shop front, which of course means there's nowhere you go can.

dat biker meth

Smoking bans in public places are a GOOD thing but I'm not going to vilify smokers for doing what they want in the designated areas. Their body, their life.

Maybe I should quit smoking and start doing drugs.
Less hassle.

Yeah instead of my cigarette break at work I should drop acid instead. I'll make my day more interesting.

Sparky 06-26-2012 04:11 PM

exactly

or meth is good too i hear

duga 06-26-2012 04:20 PM

Camel Turkish Silvers. If they ever got rid of those, I'd probably stop smoking altogether. The flavor and smoothness is pretty much exactly what I want when I think of smoking. While I was in Asia I smoked Pall Malls because I could never find any filtered Camels...and Pall Malls suck. So I didn't smoke much.

The older I get the more I feel guilty every time I light up...when I was younger I could easily justify it with the whole "Meh...I'll quit later" thing. Now it's starting to get to later...oh well, for now I smoke 1 or 2 a day (sometimes none). That's not too bad, right? RIGHT??

1 or 2 a day?
I don't know why you bother smoking at all. Unless that (sometimes more) = 20 a day?

That's sometimes NONE. Although when I drink, I chainsmoke...so there's that.

I have very particular times that I smoke. I have one after lunch before I have go back to work and then one at night to wind down. I've never smoked a lot, though...at my peak I think I was smoking maybe 5 or 6 a day.

they stick really bad....but the flavor is actually there

as a proud smoker....i actually agree 100% with with not smoking in restaurants, and in densely public places....and esp. a place like Disney.....although i am very happy they have places to smoke....i agree you feel somewhat shunned and looked down upon

Yeah I quite liked the designated areas at Disney and wouldn't mind having to stick to them should they be introduced more widely, especially here in the U.K.
They turned out to be mini social gatherings and gave me the opportunity to meet and chat to people I wouldn't normally have had the chance to meet otherwise.
What was irritating though was despite adhering to these little smoking enclaves it still wasn't enough for some people! Some people need to wind their necks in.

jackhammer 06-26-2012 04:52 PM

BRB need a cig.

Trollheart 06-26-2012 05:39 PM

I personally hate smoking, but just to prove that God has after all got a sense of humour (and that it's almost always directed at me for some reason), now that my sis has the worst co-ordination and dexterity thanks to her MS, I have to hold the cigarette for her while she smokes in the bed. Urgh!

I guess I'd have to admit to being dedicated to her. Damn cigarettes!

jackhammer 06-26-2012 05:51 PM

I completely understand non smokers disliking smokers and not smoking in certain places is something I agree with but what really pisses me off is ex smokers. My dad is one of them. Up until around 8 years ago (so he would have been around 52) he smoked 60 a day in the house, in the car around us as kids but now he has given up he has turned into a self righteous twat whenever someone smokes.

Oh get that away from me, dirty habit, you shouldn't do it blah, blah, blah and that sly pretend cough when even a whiff of smoke is near is irritating as ****.

Oh and those of you who only smoke when drinking alcohol but hate it any other time. GTFO.

Rjinn 06-27-2012 12:16 AM

I usually buy port royal since the amount I smoke is hefty. As for tailor mades, Marlborough, Dunhill and Benson & Hedges smooth.

Serious constant puffing on the things, could be a viable candidate for a sailor.. or a pirate.

Nah just give me a damn cigarrete.

Justthefacts 06-27-2012 10:53 PM

I wanna quit smoking. But sometimes when I get the urges, I tend to go for Marlboro 27's. Very smooth

Above 07-09-2012 01:34 PM

It's been two days without a cigarette now. Jesus Christ, I want to spark up so bad. I think I'm going to be a social smoker and nothing else from now on.

FETCHER. 07-09-2012 04:18 PM

I don't know how anyone can smoke marlboro reds, I ran out of cigs on holiday and bought a pack of those and it was like smoking asbestos. They were disgusting.

Goofle 07-09-2012 04:49 PM

Agree. I think I am going to become a social smoker too. CBA buying a more that one pack a week.
