What Is The Story Behind Your Username?
http://personalimagesinc.com/blog/wp...5/name-tag.bmp
Tell us the story of why you chose your username[s]! It's as simple as that. It will give all of us MuBa's [Yes, 'm bringing that word back!] a little more insight into our fellow posters and help us all to get to know one another a little better. I will start.
I began my MB journey as "oojay." That was a nickname that I had amongst a group of friends in high school. Since I am a Junior [my dad and I have the same name], some people would call me "Junior." That got shortened to "Ju." And then for some reason, it went through pig-Latin and became "oojay." [spelled phonetically]. I dunno, I just went with it. I was like 16 or 17 at the time and thought that it was cool LOL.
After that, I was "Donnie Dukes," stylized as [DONNIE -X- DUKES]. This was during a time when I was feeling very creative and had lots of self-confidence and a drive to create. I was healthy. I was training and fighting MMA. I was writing poems and rap lyrics. I was in the best shape of my life. It was right after my divorce and I was trying to re-define myself. My name is Donald, so the "DONNIE" part is a given, and the "DUKES" part, I guess, spoke to the fighting side of me at the time, like "Put up your dukes!" It also could be perceived as a Duke, as in royalty or nobility, since the name "Donald" means "world leader." I truly miss the person that I was back then. My body was in great shape and my low self-esteem was at an all time high LOL.
Now, I go by [MERIT]. It is part of the name under which I write [Merit Freeman]. I think the name speaks for itself. It casts aside ideologies and dogmas and evaluates everything on a case-by-case basis, which is my goal. "Freeman," though not a part of my MB username, represents a goal for all [wo]men to be free of segregation and from systems that trap them into servitude.
